Converting my 4WD RC car into a RWD DRIFT CAR!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this episode of 10th Scale Garage, I convert my Kyosho Fazer MK2 4wd RC into a RWD Drift car. I often get asked if it's possible to convert a 4wd drifter into a 2wd drifter and today I show you the best way to convert this Kyosho into a drift car. Because you CAN do something, does it mean you SHOULD do it? This Toyota tundra gets some custom upgrades to compete against the MST RMX 2.0. If you're a beginner and just getting into drifting, this video will help you decide if the conversion is worth it.

    You can totally turn any 4WD RC car into a great RWD drifter. What you need is: - more steering angle (mods needed) - weight balance -rear tires grip adjustment - lots of Rc drifting experience

    After a long time out of the hobby I decided to get back into it again for a Start up ...lol many pro drifters will hate me for this but I 3d printed my rwd rc chassis based off a few rwd chassis available on the market my theory is if your chassis is well balanced it is mostly your electronics and suspension that determines how good a Rc drift car can be. The chassis I made did not cost me more then 50 dollars to 3d print xD will see where it goes when I got it all assembled and running

    I used to think that 4 wheel drive RC cars were the only way and that's all I bought. One day I couldn't resist buying a Team Associated Trophy Rat and I learned the error of my ways. What an awesome truck! I since have acquired a few more RWD trucks just for ripping around ball fields and on slick wet blacktop. Well, my 3 year old does most the driving now and he drifts like a pro.

  • @hamsterwolf
    @hamsterwolf Жыл бұрын

    some thoughts here. you might need a faster servo if the servo is too slow then the gyro cant adjust fast enough to deal with the car trying to switch ends. the car also needs a lot more angle and camber adjustment, so a platform that has drift parts available for it already might work better like a tt02 or something. the transmitter and receiver is probably ok along with the brushed motor.

    Faster servo, longer servo horn, trim the chassis for clearance on steering arms... More cheap options! I got a 4Tec drifting really close to the purpose built ones. Used the steering bar from the RMX as well. Its possible and wasn't expensive. Better to just buy a car specialized for the purpose in the end though. Good vid.

    I've always known that the drift stuff is specific. The real key is getting all the rotating mass out from behind the front wheels. And get the grease out of the bearings, and add drop or two of oil. I used a nearly 10 year old team associated tc6(mostly because it's carbon/aluminum and has the belt drive rear. the motor mounted high in the rear, and I just built my own front suspension out of crawler bits to get angle. The gyro helps, but rear wheel drive drifting is just a different game

Only thing I added was a TSM receiver to get gyro and Traxxas link tuning and a diff spool meant for a 4tec that was only like $7. For right around 300 bucks you can have a rwd drift rally car. Does it replace the rmx? No but its alot more fun than the fazer in the video and can actually link up corners on stock wheels and tires.

    Couldve mounted a longer arm on the servo for a longer swing. Longer swing = bigger angle

  • @10thScaleGarage

    @10thScaleGarage

    Жыл бұрын

    True, however- we’re not even close to maxing out the servo. We’re at the limits of the lower A-arm. A longer servo horn would only decrease the amount of rotation the servo would need to travel to go from lock to lock. It WOULD make the steering faster, which wouldn’t be a bad thing.

    AWD Drift cars can’t be ran in a drift track.Most Rc drift clubs are strictly RWD.I did the same to an old school Kyosho..printed some parts to give it more angle..far from a dedicated drifter but still fun.

    I’ll chop whatever I dang we’ll please. There no Ackerman, toe or track adjustment. Also, the people who ask about converting their 4WD into RWD usually don’t have the skills to confidently adjust the suspension geometry of their car. I stand behind the idea that you’re wY better off building a dedicated RWD chassis than trying to convert a 4WD. Not saying it’s impossible, just saying it’s not worth the headache for most people. There are full kits available as well for different brand conversion that can get you a full rwd converted car for under $300. Pretty naive to say NO just go an buy a $700 car instead... 🤣
