It's worth noting there's more than meets the eye in this video. The numbers on the top example (128-1) would actually represent the DECIMAL equivalent of that BINARY number. By adding up the numbers with 1' under them you would get the DECIMAL number 62, which in HEX is obviously $3E, which takes up 1 BYTE of memory (8bits make 1 BYTE). SIDE NOTE: You could easily convert from HEX to DECIMAL by taking our example here of $3E and multiplying the 3 x 16 which equals DECIMAL 48 and then adding the E (DECIMAL 14) to it, so 48 + 14 = 62 So more than met the eye in this little video. Kudos OP

Does it matter whether it is capital letters vs lowercase? At some point does it become a lowercase letter, further down the line of numbers.?

My problem is that converting manually is easy enough, but writing a C program that does it for you has been hell for me! It's really difficult to manage each element of a hexadecimal integer :( I tried using bitwise operators which work for converting hex to binary, but I don't know how to do it the other way around!
