Converting a 3:1 to a 5:1 Mechanical Advantage

How to convert a 3:1 into a 5:1 by unclipping the traveling pulley, bringing it back to the progress capture pulley and clipping the two bights created into a double sheave pulley as the new traveling pulley.

    Thank you for a great explanation. I’m a rock climber interested in rope access and glacier travel. The 3:1 “just not cutting it” is something I worry about already

    Thats a 4 if you only have 4 ropes in the pully pull system, as the 5th line was outside the pully. Some expert.
