gift cards should be available for cash withdrawal, and for online wallets...this is so stupid, gosh. just make it usable only in the USA...(for security reasons) is not that hard...

if you wanna way to get cash from a vanilla gift card do this: take how ever much is on the card and go to your local Walmart and buy a money order put however much is on the gift card minus the fee for the money order, once you have it you could either have walmart money services convert it to cash for you right then and there, or deposit it at your bank

As of 06/2024, this does not work. I tried multiple Walmarts, Fry's, etc. and none of them accepted GiftCards, esp not the Vanilla. :(

My card was declined for use in a store. Many merchants are no longer accepting vanilla gift cards

But a merchant will accept money from the person buying the gift card for someone! That's called theft if the card can't be used!

Thank you so much I've been looking for answers for this. I have multiple gift cards that I have mostly used up on funds but I can't add them together. I will definitely try those other methods though!

If you swipe the visa gift cards at a grocery store or something, it’ll use whatever balance is on there even if it’s a dollar or two

Agreed. They have caused more headaches than any other gift card I've ever tried to use. My kids keep getting them for birthday or Christmas presents and want to use them for online purchases. They either aren't recognized or the gift card isn't enough to cover and you can't split payments. Nearly worthless.

I wish someone already made this video! I personally spent 2+ hours researching ways to get around getting money off a Vanilla gift card. If someone else would have made the video it would have saved me all that time. If it wasn't for the title and thumbnail people would instead click on the other videos out there that lie about telling them the PayPal method works or another method that isn't true.
