Convert Static Mesh To Skeletal Mesh Quick! (Unreal 5)
Why? Need 1 bone for a cloth asset? How about 2 bones for a quick pivot, or ragdoll sim? Watch the video for how!
I mention in the video:

Also useful: Ragdol sim in Sequencer:

Hey sorry but I have a cube I want to use as my character, I don't want to reinvent the wheel for a character controller, If I can deal with a capsule collider for my cube would this be the way to get started on moving a cube around the level in the style of a 3d sidescroller? I have this set up with the default rigged character in ue5 but want to disable the cube rotation to an extent and replace the rigged character but I have a static mesh.
this is old does not work as shown
does it still work if the item you export is a 3d object like perhaps a military gun?

Hopefully yes! Simple mechanical objects are where I'd use this workflow most.
Is there no simpler ways to animate a static mesh in Unreal Engine 5? Coming from Unity, the amount of things you have to do to animate something basic as a cube bouncing or spinning with animation just seems a bit strange designed for UE 5. I see that the animator is very powerful in Unreal but for simple things it seems a bit clunky unless im missing something to animate static meshes easily with keyframes like in Unity.

Will continue my hunt but sofar I have not find any tutorials that animate static meshes and save them as reusable animations. Im basicly going to animate a box that in one animation might swing in another it stabs etc. @@ShaunFoster
