Convert MIDI to audio in Ableton Live - 2 ways
Today I will be showing you how to convert a MIDI track in to an audio file in Ableton Live. This is great for saving CPU to prevent glitches and dropouts, and it also allows you to share project files between computers that don't have the same plugins. This also works very well for creating stems to export for a remix in Ableton Live.

You can also drag frozen track into a new audio track with alt/option key to have both: audio track and frozen one for editing.

You explain everything so clearly, and you play back sounds that you explain so we can hear it, love your tute!
Excellent tutorial! This is the clearest demonstration and explanation of freeze track and resampling that I have seen. Thank you!

Thank you teacher. ^^
thank you
Thanks
Man you made my day 🙂
thanks mate!!!
Thank you for this video, it was helpful. Is there a way to import the kick drum midi file, then use an wav audio sample file which has one 707 kick drum to replace in midi file, then export the audio file?
When using a drum rack is it possible to generat individual audio tracks for each kit component? i.e. one wav for the kick, one for the snare, one for the hi-hat, etc.
thank you!!~
When flattening does it also merge the audio from the sends channels?
should your arrangement be done before converting midi to audio? I've been trying to turn my 4-8 bar loops into audio and I always have a tale on the audio clip. When I remove it theres obviously popping that can only be solved with a cross fade which then means I have to cross fade every clip together as I arrange. Someone help me out here I have to be doing something wrong haha.
Merci :)

thank u
Now I import midi files with multiple tracks into Ableton and the midi files are 'played' over an external synth. So e.g. on midi channel 1 strings, channel 2 trumpet and so on. I understand that I can make an audio file from the midi. But how does it work, because Ableton does not have the sounds (they are on an external machine).
i dotn have flatten option in live10..any other option to change to wave audio
You can’t use command+z to undo the the conversation of the MIDI track to and audio track? I convert the MIDI track to an audio track using the second method.
Is resampling the audio done through the computers audio interface? If so, is the audio going to be worse than the actual midi channel and would it be better to use loopback with an external audio interface?
Him: its spiking at 33% when I play, wich is quite a lot Me hitting 123%: am I a joke to you
muito didático
thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu
Are these the most intuitive ways? They both have flaws - with freezing and flattening the problem is, what if i want to keep the midi track as well as the new audio file? and the resampling, surely thats a bit long.. what if you want to convert a whole tracks worth of midi data? Theres a lot i dont like about logic but it has a bounce in place function which does this in a few clicks and a few seconds.
Hello ! I've tried the 2 possibilities but I don't have audio sound on Ableton Standard 12
What we get is a stereo track... i need to convert it into a mono track is that possible?
THANK YOU. so many tuts out there where they get so fucking convoluted, this is what 99% of electronic producers need and it's so damn hidden lol
but where do I get the .wav file of that clip?
How do I stop tail?
Okay. I've big fan of FL Studio this is the first feature I wish FL studio had.
Yooooooooo i thought that fade at the begining was a glitch or ableton mistake
Doesn't work if I use a compressor
my ableton literally does not do that when i click flatten. it just unfreezes. almost positive freezing does nothing for me too. what the fuck
yapping degree
Right click your track. Freeze it. Then Flatten it. You're welcome.
Save the clip first into my clips then flatten it.
thank you sir
SUPER helpful, thank you so much !
