Tip: Find a TV that you like, then Google search the model number for a replacement circut board image. That lets you see theTV board before buying.

Thanks! Worked perfectly on my Insignia NS-19D310NA19, 19” TV. The only thing I did differently was to run the power cord out of the side, parallel to the AC cord. I also wish I had used a cord longer than the 1 ft that I used. Btw, you need a 2mm JST connector.

    1. This is not easily done on most TV sets now and you will need to know where to look on the PCB for a spot to tap on to if such a spot exists for 12 volts. 2. Maybe put a diode inline of the positive to prevent backfeeding voltage up the 12 volt lead while using 120 volts. 3. You should put a protective grommet or strain relief on the cable where it enters through the metal chassis.

Great info. I have an old 32" Hisens that I would like to make 12V for my RV. Hope it has a similar board in it.

32" is hit or miss for 12 volt operations and this is due to the backlight arrangement and voltage requirements for the driver circuit to work properly. They may flicker or not reach full brightness and because they are starved for current they will cause premature failure of the driver filter caps and deprive other circuits proper voltage and current which can cause undesired operation.

Good to know, I would try this for sure 👍👍👍 I would just recommend to avoid all theses little chunks of metal from the drilling to get to the PCBs and connections 😅 😛 I 'd rather pierce a hole into the plastic casing then in the metallic support...

True words. 12V cable would also last longer and be safer than grinding against metal.

Doing this to a insignia tv. Looks identical to the one your doing. You should really put a regulator for the voltage.

I figured that since it says 12v on the circuit board, no regulator is needed.

You can just get an inverter but regardless good video usefull as inverter step up will use up a bit more power than directly to 12 like this

I ran into this same issue and figured that the TV is actually displaying picture if you flash a torch closely on the screen. Meaning that the power upgrade connector doesn't power the backlight. However, there's a 2 pin connector at the backlight driver section at the top of PCB I'm planning to supply with 2.5v to see what happens. The connector isn't in use.
