Love you 💖 .
@ClearEnglishCorner

Thank you for your kind words Retaj Abubaker! So glad you are enjoying the lessons! 😊🤗💕 "In the nick of time" means just in time, or just before time ran out as in "I got there just in the nick of time." "The yin and yang of life" I have not heard before but imagine it means the back and forth balance of life... "Ebb and flow" would be similar, the back and forth, give and take of life- Webster's says "something that changes in a regular and repeated way." Hope this helps! Not sure what you mean by "sea game called Popsicle stick" though! 🤔

@@ClearEnglishCorner Hi ,I had searched about (Popsicle stick ) , but I didn't had a totally understanding about it the explanation said that ((it's a game where one of the girls brings a popsicle stick down to the bottem then they wait seize it for whoever jumps in to get it to the next person how bring it down to the bottom )) thanks for your explanation of other idioms you make my more interested in English, take care 💖 .

Hey Keenyn! hey everybody! thanks for your videos. I have a questions! WHen i heard Ethan's presentation he says (1:06 ) "You actually made me blush..." The thing is i don't understand when he said 'actually' i heard something like actual? This could be?
I do believe that common usage of phrasal verbs is the main feature that allows one to clearly tell non-native English speakers from native ones. I suspect that it has a lot to do with growing in a specific cultural environment (second generation or the native offspring of non-natives seem to not have that kind of problem). Wanna see if that's true or not? If you're a native, next time you're talking with a foreign born friend, try to incorporate lots of phrasal verbs in your speech (and just see what happens - It should be fun, at least for one of you guys. Warning : potential friendship ending procedure).
@ClearEnglishCorner
5 жыл бұрын
😄 You are absolutely correct, Mottahead! And native speakers don't even think about it- if you asked most to use some "phrasal verbs" they would replay "say what??" Definitely something that is picked up from growing up in this specific cultural environment...
Hola
Hi Keenyn When you speak, you speak so clearly that anyone can understand you native and non-native alike. When I speak to native English speakers they can understand me except for the occasional time there might ask me to repeat myself. But with non-natives only three-quarters of the time. I often found myself repeating myself to a non-native English over and over again. The fact is I don't speak fast but talking to a non-native is sometimes so taxing because I have to repeat and really slow down the words so much so that some of the connecting words no longer makes senses. For example, I might say to a native 'there are' as the_rar but quickly so that it sounds like there are. I once said that to a non-native very slowly and he said to what is 'they roar'. So my question how do I speak to non-native without sacrificing my speed or connecting words. How do you do it? I know you are trained to speak clearly but what tips can you give to someone like me or is not trained. I ask because I find myself dealing with non-native speakers at my local church. Ps I enjoyed this lesson

abby Sand the is THE BEST question and really gets to the heart of why I started the Clear English Corner channel! 💕💕💕 Around the world, conversations happening in English are most often occurring between 2 non-native speakers. What are the keys to clarity in these situations?? 1) Clear and elongated pronunciation of vowels in KEY words and stressed syllables. 2) Pacing your message, delivering your sentences in phrase groups. 3) Clear consonants. 4) Pronouncing consonant clusters (2 consonant sounds together) There is ongoing research in this area but these are the key factors that linguists agree on. In my professional opinion- you first get very good at pronouncing vowels and stressing key words and syllables, Then you move into refining any trouble consonant sounds. I will have a course coming soon to help you with the first step in this process- vowels, word/sentence stress, rhythm and intonation. Wot woot!!!

Good morning coach. ....is the word parents or parent like president in the letter (t) i mean the letter ..t..is silent
@ClearEnglishCorner
5 жыл бұрын
Great question- the T in these instances is actually held, with most native speakers stopping the air in the throat with a glottal stop. The NT combination happens this way in a lot of words, most commonly with the contraction of "not", n't, as in "can't" and "don't." I hope to have a lesson on this n the future! The T is definitely not silent in these words, you don't want to say paren or presiden, rather the T is marked by stopping the air flow. I hope this makes some sense!
