The recent conclusion of the 14th General Body Meeting of the Tibetan Women’s Association marked a pivotal moment aimed at revitalizing the association's efforts in women’s empowerment and advocacy for the Tibetan cause, particularly in light of the advancing age of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. We had the opportunity to sit down with four members of the regional chapter to discuss the significance of the association, its ongoing work, the importance of engaging with youth in the era of social media, and strategies for organizational growth.

VOT interviewer doesn't know that the Tibetan Women Helpline Project is also part of TWA's project. TWA has been collaborating with the WED since it was started in the year 2000. Thank you for the coverage, VOT, and especially to all the respected regional executives who have shared their experiences. We need more younger generation to come up and take responsibility.
Thank you to the leaders of the different regional TWA chapters. The reason why there is lack of participation of young women in the TWA probably is the negative publicity about the ruckus in New York chapter of the TWA. It was allowed to bleed too long and damaged the image of the TWA. It has created a fissure between the regions which is a serious blow for the organisation. This is exploited by the United Front of communist China to malign the TWA. Since, it was found as the descendants of the extraordinary Tibetan woman of the era, the TWA’s goal should be the highlighting the Tibetan struggle. Towards that end, there is the need to bring awareness to young Tibetan women to marry fellow Tibetans in order to preserve the sanctity of the Tibetan people as a race. Of course, this applies equally to the men too. No one will ever complain against inter-marriage if we had our own country. But we are threatened as a race owing to dispossession of our country and this has created the danger of being extinct since we don’t have a designated habitat of our own. That is why, in order to pass down our language, culture, religion and identity to the next generation, we need to keep the genealogy of the Tibetan race. Hope, the TWA can play a positive role in this field!
