So happy to discover this. Two great players, great style, great linear concepts, and great tone!
Amazing to hear Sagmeister so influenced by Martino. I recall seeing Sagmeister on stage in Singapore in the 80s when he was also very influenced by Metheny. Good to see him again after many, many years.
Their album Conversation from 2000 is still one of my favorite albums. In 2017, Martino is still the original shredder, and funky Sagmeister equals the maestro. What a treat!

I'd say McLaughlin is the original shredder.
martino go full volume next gig pls
A Les Paul, I feel better now, two greats
Großartiger Gitarren "Jazzsound" auf der Les Paul!!!! Top Solos beider Meister-,,,👍✌️
BRAVO!!!!!!
Monsters!!! At work
Nice. But kind of spooky to hear someone clone an inventor that much. The trademark Pat lick at 1:59, fx. It's like hearing one guy say to another, I can do you just as good as you. What's the point?

I disagree. I would never in a million years mistake him for Pat. You can't really be a modern Jazz guitarist and not know a couple of Pat's runs.

glastyrker That's a really dark sentiment you have there. You see a wonderful collaboration like this, and all you get is pastiche and one-upmanship? Maybe it's more like homage and deference?

Idk, I've been listening to Pat nearly every single day of my life for years, at least 4, from his earliest work like on Boppin and Burnin to Formidable, and I looked away for a second and thought it was Pat still soloing near 1:50. I don't think implementing someone's style into your own is creepy, because the Giants now did it before they became Giants, but they definitely sound close to home, especially in the beginning

Cj green not sure what you mean sagmeister does the first solo from 1:00 to 3:30 before that it’s the melody there is a difference between them sagmeister has a fatter sound and pat is more woody. I can understand the comments about the mix which is why it can often sound better from someone’s phone at these live gigs
sehr geil!
Brutal!!!
Alot of chromatic licks , i love it ^^
Nice to see someone use a Les Paul so effectively as a jazz guitar. Anyone know what strings or string gauge he is using?

Flatwound or roundwound strings on Les Paul ?
What amp model is Pat Martino using here? I see the Mesa/Boogie 4x12 Rectifier cab.

It's a custom made100w solid state head, the brand is Acoustic Image. It's a really small head, but so powerful!
Hey Sound man Pat needs to be louder.
The Les Paul sounds as good..just lighter strings and different speakers and amp.
der Organist spielt den Bass mit den Beinen!
What guitar is Michael playing as it's not a Gibson?

Looks like a Maybach Lester
Interesting how Martino is much more fluid in his time feel. Sagmeister is in the pocket, but sounds a bit stiff.

Pat's use of space is like telling a story. No comparison made. Pat remains copied without his stories!
Hi every one dose any one knows the chords for the improvisation
Schneller als auf der CD, aber auch schön.
maybe the jazziest thing I've heard on a les paul so far...

Hi Folks, wonderful music by all of you. But the recording/mixing is'nt well done. Pat is mixed down, the organ partly too loud. I think, Geniuses like you could do a better sound engineering job. In spite: Thank you for giving inspiration.
I didn't hear the Martino's chords...
Steve is very good but has nothing to say. Pat does have a lot to say. Having technical ability is key but Do you anything to say? That’s the question.
he sounds just like pat martino😅
Am I missing something? I hear a bass but I don’t see a bassist. Maybe off camera?

Organ trios usually didn't have a bass player . The Organ provided the "bass" .

(wörtlich hat er gesagt:"you better shut up")
