Can we take a moment to recognize this mom? Here is an apparently single mom of three who is aware enough of how important her own inner work is that she found a way to attend this conference. Kudos to you sister, for your heart, for your desire to grow, and for your recognition that being a good mom to your boys means being a "whole person" yourself. I'd hazard to intuit that you're a really good mom and your boys are blessed to have you.

Angela French No. A woman asking for help is nothing laudable. Happily it is a rather commonplace default setting. After I told my mother that her spanking me was being done in anger, she stopped that. Instead, she would count to ten, then start in.

I literally say " pause" in my head when i feel like i'm about to react. I might look dumb to many, slow, but in fact i'm tuning in with myself and emotions that are present within, at that moment. Only after that pause ( where i take two or three conscious breaths) that i respond to a situation. I even had people asking me " uhhhh, are you there, hello??? " And i always say: hold on a minute. I don't care how it looks on the outside , i might have seemed lost to some, but i am not. I am right there. More than ever. I just won't let anger take over me again, even if that means that i may look detached or passive.

What just struck me is that if anyone has issues of reactivity, to sit and write down a list of triggers or situations that you know for sure. When you write them down, you tend to remember them easier. Then when you become aware of those but still react, you can then apologize for it (if needed, to yourself and to others). After that, over time you will find yourself being more responsible for yourself in that way. I am so happy to be in this process, as i have been extremely reactive my entire life (i'm 50 in january).

@@onreact I found out recently that anger is often an expression due to needs not being met, or boundaries violated. Feelings of weakness and exhaustion can arise from both. The best treatment is to really learn to meet your own needs, as best possible...keeping a full tank & also clearly & calmly, voicing needs. Whether that’s a need for help from others, a request of the child etc, all important. Sometimes, we have gotten into patterns of denying our own needs and boundaries. Those deficits lead to anger and resentment.

REST and SUPPORT for your daily workload and responsibility is what you need first and foremost dear... if you can arrange for atleast 30mts everyday for self preservation it can do magic. Every young mother need personal space though only a few are fortunate to have this. Use Soothing sleep music, chantings etc to calm your nerves... legit many good women are pushed waay past their tipping point without anyone even acknowledging that this is a modern malice. I strongly believe Awakening to the present moment needs a huge amount of supportive factors not just commitment to the practice., one important factor being living in an environment with positive energies so that whatever negativities that arise in your mind like tension, irritation, frustration, anger due to your sitation will not deplete your existing positive energy reserve.

@@Alphacentauri819 Yeah, exactly. Anger is a sign something is boiling underneath. Make sure to notice the heat early and cool down. As Zen master Seung Sahn said: the hungry shall eat, the tired shall sleep. For decades I was wondering where the wisdom is in that quote until I realized that when you're hungry and tired being conscious is much harder or downright impossible. Sure, there will be stressful times etc. but you can organize life in a less stressful way to prevent most of them.

I am starting to feel guilty for not feeling guilty! Hahaha! But seriously, you and your son chose each other; there is no reason to feel guilt for even meager provisions. Does he know you love him? Do you listen to him? Do you hold him/care for him when he needs it? That’s all that matters. Then when he grows up (or maybe he’s almost grown now) he will look back and those will be the parts he remembers. Your smile, your patience, the quiet moments you shared perhaps. Rearing children is probably the most difficult things there is to do in the world because it requires a huge sacrifice-your time, your needs, your desires, everything. Absolutely everything. Or it can. Cheers.

What an incredible shift I’m my life this man has initiated.... I used to be very reactive to so many life situations... often not knowing why my reaction was so strong... feeling guilty and ashamed. Understanding the simplicity of acceptance has changed everything for me. I’ve read all Eckhart’s books and watch his videos daily... the impact that these teachings has had on my life cannot be overstated.... Looking back at who I used to be even 4 years ago is like looking at a complete stranger...it really is an odd feeling. It is truly amazing how a shift in consciousness can transform your world Thank you ET

I will remember this video next time I "lose it". Imagine. You have a choice. Watch a reaction arising. Do I unconsciously "lose it" or do I allow the present to unfold naturally. How many people wake up in a jail cell after "losing it" and cannot understand how they could do such a thing. They cannot even recall what happened. How the Ego loves negativity. It talked you into acting unconsciously and then berates you for doing what you did. I clearly see this and yet time and time again, I fall into the same trap. Listening to the mind/ego. It is like an addiction. You clearly see what is happening but, due to conditioning, you must react unconsciously.

"The most important thing here is my consciousness" , and all external reactions , although seemingly righteous, fail in comparison to such a realization. Let the noise happen. "Surrender to it" . "The noise goes right thru you". WOW so much simpler said than done. I am hopeful for others to realize such a higher mindset, and maintain it, just as I strive myself. The guilt is perhaps best seen as noise from yourself; Encourge the passing of guilt right thru yourself, but not without taking note, as to raise the level of awareness until we are fully awake. Grateful for Guilt and Anger as such tools. Blissfully, Thank you

The mind creates reality. Wearing a mask or not is not the issue.. controlling the mind is. I’ve not worn a mask once in London and people have coughed or sneezed near me and I just controlled my mind ‘it’s a smokers cough’ ‘they must have hay fever’. What people don’t realise as they are not awake is that the mind creates the result not the thing outside. That’s why a deadly virus cannot harm animals or children .. because they give it no attention.. also they live in the NOW so no thought pattern.. they aren’t in fear or worry. They just live in the NOW. What people don’t realise is a virus won’t select who to infect.. it’s the mind that creates the result. We are all creating our own reality in the world. So even if a person does test positive in their reality and they sneeze on me.. in my mind I’ll change it to ‘hay fever’ so my mind changes it in my reality and body is protected ❤️

And yet, all the guided meditations out there suggest us to find ourselves in a quiet place, silent. But i understand that it's the best way to start meditating. But as Mr.Tolle says it so well here...you have to take it further, even when the environment is not so calm. That's why i meditate with my windows open in summer, i hear cars passing by, noises, and it becomes part of it all. I also do it on the bus. It never stops getting easier and better. I consider meditation as a survival behaviour i truly need, today. It's only this year that i made the commitment to meditate every single day, just as i brush my teeth daily for a good dental health; it's a mental health habit. I can't go without it, just as i wouldn't forget to brush my teeth. Some people don't like Mr.Tolle, but he speaks to my human condition, make it easy to understand for me. Thank you for this.

Thank you, dear Eckhart, this subject of reactivity is beautifully explained for what it is, with the moment of awareness after "losing it". I've noticed that the practice of observing what happens, and what's likely to trigger a reaction in me, is fruitful when familiar thought patterns begin to run through my mind and I can stop that stampede, and choose a point of view that is a choice instead of an instinctual response. And family patterns show up also!
