@@michaelwesten4624 I know what you mean, but in all honesty, that's how you play a Remedy game. It's all about the creepy and unsettling atmosphere, not just the action set pieces. On a technical level, the motion blur hides the wonky performance. 😅

Got to say....the Destructibility is something i really like the look of, gives me that Matrix shoot out feeling

EDIT Some Vsynch tearing in the video is on my end not the game. Also when discussing the 1080 and ti they don't do DLSS I meant to say those resolutions are playable without it. @@DefeatMedia Lower your resolution , on RTX 2070 everything maxed i get between 70 and 80 FPS on 2560-1080 screen , but reviewers and tech tubers get around 80 to 90 FPS on RTX 2080ti . in this game you want quality over framerate until a certain point, only below 60 FPS i would consider lowering stuff . might want to turn on the new latency function in Nvidia control panel ,and use DLSS ingame and alt F3 for the new sharpening ,while rendering at lower res . Hardware unboxed did a video about these new functions .

@@ElliottTrout no thats everything maxed , raytracing high , pc gamer was making a mess of it and didnt set up properly. (i believe their streaming rig was the bottleneck ,and they would upgrade next year ) an rtx 2060 should get 60 -70 fps and a 2080 ti normally easy in the 90 fps

I have gotta say, I think the combat was even better than you gave Control credit for. I have never seen telekinesis done as extraordinarily well as in this game. The levitation also feels damn great in combination with the dash move . It is damn near perfect except for the aiming bug which you mentioned. Let's face it, this combat on top of a lightsabre melee mechanic would be the ideal, dream-come-true scenario for a Star Wars game with jedis and blasters.

Just started Control a few weeks back and I'm about halfway through now. Man is it good! The combat just feels so polished. There's enough enemy types, weapons, and abilities that you have to keep your strategy varied for success, yet you can fall back on some of your favorites (mine is definitely the telekinetic launch). Combine that with the real creepy atmosphere and this game is just a real winner.

I was shocked with the destruction environment. I found myself destroying random things. The detail is amazing.

The iridescent smoke FX when she kills them is really beautiful. The FX work on this game looks next level !! Love it just for that.

I've considered trying at it again, and not trying to make excuses or anything, but I've been dealing with depression for 30 years now, so it's hard to get up the will to fight what felt like a losing battle for so long. :-) The encouragement really means a lot!

The creepy janitor is played by legendary Finnish actor Martti Suosalo. I think the amount of detail put into his character is kind of an easter egg for us Finns. Also, the game got an insane amount of free press here due to the character.

Psychedelic story, linear but ever-changing environment, secrets and lore to dig deep into, and cool looking gameplay mechanics and fx. Sounds right up my alley. Found my christmas game, finally. Haven’t been interested in any of the releases in the past few months, but just heard of this at the perfect time. Thank you.

I just got this game last week (on Steam, no EGS for me still) and I watched 4 reviews since then, wondering if everyone else thought it was as amazing as I did. And every single one of them mentions the "inner monologue." Except, it's not. If you pay attention to the story, Jesse is talking to Polaris, not herself. Now, yes, this is technically a thought inside her own head (i.e. she isn't verbalizing it aloud) however since it is a conversation with another character, it isn't a monologue. And if the VA didn't voice it aloud for us, there would be no way for us to know about this dialogue - which is absolutely what it is, dialogue, not a monologue. I'm not sure if I'm the only person alive who picked up on this or what. I've never played any previous Remedy game, so I'm getting the impression that in previous games it WAS a monologue and thus a bunch of reviewers are ASSUMING it's a monologue this time around.

Best reviewer on KZread by far, in my opinion. I'd love it if you'd put out time-stamp-thingys for Graphics, Sound, Gameplay and the final part. I find myself sometimes only interested in some of the parts for some games, and would appreciate some easy navigation.

Been playing this nonstop lately- has quickly become one of the best games I've played in a while.

Have you tried switching settings if on PC. On Ps4 I think maybe using down on the D-pad should adjust the view left or right. I personally didn't notice this issue though.

Is it weird that as I played through Control one of my initial thoughts was, "the ACG guy is gonna LOVE this game." Best thing I've played all year!

the amount of particle effects in this game is insane, it reminds me of playing Max Payne having a shoot out in a office and seeing just everything exploding from bulllet impacts and flying everywhere

I was blown away by this game, it harkened back to a genre that is all but dead these days. I loved the atmosphere and the story, and as I writer I generally shrug off game stories as lazy and uninteresting.

On a rtx 2080 ti and can confirm ALL the graphics glitches/inconsistencies you mentioned in the video. I had really thought something was wrong with my brand new 2080ti but instead I am reminded why I love this channel. Detailed, useful information that I can use to augment my purchasing decisions or bounce off my experience with an already purchased game.

15:18 had me roooooollling I would end up throwing that body around for 10 minutes lmfaoo and then Peter Griffin " heads up " when I throw it .

I had a lot of questions and you answered all of them. Love the raking system. Just subscribed lol

Thanks again, man! Can't wait till you review GREEDFALL (really hope it's on your list). Been cautiously optimistic based on the myriad available info/gameplay vids but really feel that "make or break" point will be the quality of storyline(s) & narratives. I’ve been following you for like 2 or 3 years I’m not sure. I remember watching your review for punch club to see if I wanted to buy it on my cheap android phone. I don’t really comment but anytime I’m looking for a review that will be more in depth than other reviewers ACG is my go to channel.. I just wanted to say thanks for the reviews. The intro you’ve been doing in your latest videos is nice recommending people to follow other people than just you is great.. I bought control before watching this review. I bought it digital a week ago but by watching this review before I can play it in 6 hours I’m actually happy to know I’m not going to be disappointed. Very excited for the level design and to see how it complements the story.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game. I liked the way ordinary items could be moved, and destroyed etc, it gave the game a bit more realism. Story was good and i found myself reading the documents and trying to follow the story. Gets an 8/10 in my books.

I see a LOT of people comparing this to SCP but it REALLY reminds me of this 2006 sci fi miniseries called "The Lost Room". Especially with the ocean-view motel. It's really great and super underrated (never heard anyone talk about it besides me). Also Control is my GOTY, just beating out DMC5. Alan Wake being my favorite game of all time :p

Another great review from ACG! Really excited to play Control tomorrow! Remedy games are always a delight for me. Wish I had time for Astral Chain too right now.

It runs great on medium on my intel 4460/ 8gb 1600 mhz ram and my 4gb msi gtx 960 and i love the game!!

The graphic's remind me of The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, the game look pretty cool.

game of the year no contest

This game has aged very well. I think it went under the radar for some time as the confusing as hell beginning threw a lot of people off from playing more. It was confusing for those familiar with Remedy and their quirks let alone those who were not. A game that does NOT treat you as an idiot and discovery and untangling the narrative as enjoyable as the gameplay. Not a long game but not short either with meticulous metrovania pacing. 9/10.

Always come here for reviews of games I’m interested in. You do not fail. Keep it up dude. Great review.👍

I'm definitely getting a Quantum Break/Max Payne/Alan Wake vibe when it comes to Control, which isn't a bad thing, especially considering how much I enjoyed those titles. The voice acting is pretty good. Combat is satisfying (both the gunplay and the powers). Destructible environments are highly appreciated. The visuals look great. The story is enjoyable. I like the level design as well. The game's replayability is always a major plus. Sure, there are a few issues. However, they don't detract from the overall experience. Having said that, I would love to buy the game as soon as I get the chance to do so. It looks very interesting and intriguing. With that aside, thanks once again Karak. I really appreciate the continued hard work!

I feel like Control and Mad Max are two of the most underrated single player games of the past few years.

Finally started playing Control last night on gamepass. I put it off for a while but now I'm hooked.

Jeez, AC Odyssey is way too long. Loved it, but dang...106hrs to do everything I wanted..smh. I played the dlc too, thats another 20 to 30hrs. Great game though

Deon Villanueva yep, I loved Odyssey, overall. After all, it was the game that got me back into AC..dropped out after AC3 because of what Ubi did to Desmond Miles‘ character. The sense of exploration in Odyssey is phenomenal, but they really overdid it in terms of repetitive content.

One of the few reviewers I trust these days! Thanks again Karak, I'll keep watching if you keep uploading!

Thanks for the review! I was intrigued, but the motion blur and just how movement in the game looks overall doesn't go too well with my motion sickness. Not being able to turn motion blur off just kills any game for me, unfortunately.

I had to subscribe becuase your reviews are the best out there, way better than skill up or others. Also because you shouted out smaller you tubers and that’s awesome.

This destruction tech is not only the same one used for Quantum Break, but it was also used in The Force Unleashed. Been waiting a while to see it used again.

The janitor is played by one of the best current Finnish actors, Martti Suosalo. It sometimes comes through that he has to work to speak English with a horribly thick Finnish accent. I really love the directly translated Finnish proverbs and idioms he keeps using though. :D

Nice to see that Mara Jade finally got her own game. A shame it’s a division 2 style cover shooter. I wonder when the emperor became a janitor and lightsabers were banned.

Sorry did I say division style, I meant mass effect. Or was that gears of war? uncharted? Tomb raider? No, I’m clearly confused, I meant call of duty, or was that borderlands? Current-year Wolfenstein? Ok I’ll stop now, dead space.

Any game where you can play as Sally Spectra is a must buy, awesome choice for lead character!

They did add a motion blur on/off option which is very nice!

I didn't know what to expect from this game but the second I saw it pop up in the new games section I was intrigued, but if it has frame rate problems I'm gonna have to wait a while. I'll wait until they iron things out, in the mean time astral chain the other game I've been excited for since I saw it on the same day in April, is 4 days away.

I started this game a couple weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised to see how similar it is to the SCPs.
