Where criminal justice system is working this won't happen and if it happens law will take its course imidiately.

How can you pity the old woman when they still hide the boy , women always support their children no matter what , the boy will still do another worst if they did bring him out to face the law . A good tree brings forth good fruit .

This is not the way an imam should talk when it comes to matter of conflict resolution and public interest. One should be very careful when one carries a name tag like Imam, Sheikh, Pastor and scholars, leaders generally, secularly and spiritually. Expection from people is to be straight, just and unbiased. This is Islam. It's clearly shows that he took side of the accused and playing to the gallery with his long and non comittant speech. He shouldn't be part of this settlement again. Kudos to @alhajioroyomihamzat may Allah reward you abundantly and increase you in more knowledge and wisdom.
