Continental Tire Terraincontact A/T 40k Update

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's time again for a mileage update! The Continental Tire Terraincontact A/T 40k Update! I've finally got 40k miles on my Terraincontact A/T tires by Continental Tire, and I couldn't be happier with how they've worn and worked for my needs. You'll see the wear has been pretty even all the way around and has keep my profile mostly flat on the wear also. Like I though when I chose it, the Terraincontact A/T by Continental Tire has been excellent for me.

Thank you for the review on this. I honestly never looked at Continental after having them as OEM equipment on a car years ago. I have a Silverado 2500HD pickup and have been struggling to find a tire I like. Most AT tires have the very aggressive looking sidewall that I personally do not care for. This tire seems to be perfect, great mileage, ride, perfect amount of aggressiveness, etc. Thank you for the multiple videos on this. I have an appt Sat to get these put on

Never tow anything and I have separate winter wheels. The tires I’m looking at (Toyo OC AT3) come in either 115T or LT-E load. Would love to hear your thoughts and recommendation based on my use case. Thanks.

Great reviews! You appear to have tons of experience with the TerrainContact A/T, so can you give an explanation why I see a handful of reports from people that these tires are hard to balance? Some people have major problems with the balance from the beginning, others after some tread wear. I love everything I see about these tires and I want to buy them, but I am concerned about the balance issues because I'm going to be doing a lot of highway driving for hiking trips to the mountains, and would like to know how these would do on those long lone stretches of highway 80mph+. I'm looking for a good AT or HT tire that has less chance of vibration at high speed. Because of this I'm also considering the Vredestein Pinza AT which comes in 2nd on road grip tests behind the TerrainContact, and people say the Pinza tends to balance very well.

I had tried the Continental Terrain Contact AT on my '16 Ram 1500 4wd. I later switched them to my wife's '14 Ram 1500 4wd. Both of us liked the tire. But my wife traded in her 1500 for a truck very much like yours. An '18 Ram 2500 Crewcab 4wd 6.7L. Her driving style is very rough on tires. And I switched her truck from Firstone Trashforce AT to the General APT tires. After a while her truck seemed to be sensitive to wheel balancing. But I found the issue was really the steering. The nut on the steering arm would come loose. And was the cause of a recall. The dealer retorque solution did not last. But I put on a steering brace, which fixed everything! And a few months later, I did go a step further and add Centramatic wheel balancers. I did upgrade the brake pads to Carbon/Ceramic and the shocks to Eibach in the front and Bilstein 5100's in the back. Within the 1st month of ownership. She gave me a lot of grief for replacing parts on a brand new truck. But later acknowledged that there was a noticeable improvement with the truck. Same story when I changed the transmission oil pan in 2020. To a deeper, higher capacity aluminum pan. She does like how her truck drives much nicer than when new. And is actually looking forward to the installation of the Bank's Monster Ram Intake. Due to a friend's truck having the nut and bolt from the stock grid heater killing the engine. Cost $15k for a new engine. The 1k cost of the Bank's parts, seem inexpensive to her.

Also tow travel trailer and have taken every advantage to getting the vehicle off of hard ball, i.e. snow, gravel, dirt and these tires are great. Treadwear is lasting a lot longer than I anticipated. The tires even still have vent spews on the sides. The only problem with these tires so far, is that I'll have to wait for FOREVER to get a new set or change them up and try something else lol. Great tire! Great review!

@@mercedesbenzs600bash I can't speak for ice a whole lot, my experience in snow was 4-5 inches of snow on the roads that Oklahoma doesn't treat. So it turned to packed snow and eventually ice for a few days before it melted. In those conditions however, it handled perfectly. Of course I wouldn't compared it to a dedicated snow tire... or even a 3 peak mountain tire. But for an A/T I was pleasantly surprised and didn't have any concerns for being able to drive safely out there.

So I've got a 19 Ram 2500 and I tow a camper also. I just bought Goodyear Ultraterrains.....and I'm not impressed. Seem to be very soft and the front wanders on the highway. Not to mention, they're considerably louder than the firestones. I haven't towed my camper yet with them....but given how soft the front tires feel, I'm not expecting good results on the handling when I'm loaded. These don't look as agressive as the Ultraterrains, so I'm hoping for a better all around experience. In your opinion, do you think they'll be more quiet? The Continentals have a nicer feel on my Ram 1500 4wd 3.0L. But I currently run the General APT tires. Because of Oregon being picky about snow tires. Which is silly, since I have had General HTS and HTS-60 tires along with Continental LX20 tires run in very deep snow. In fact, in one situation the snow was going over the hood of my '03 4wd Ford Explorer. Handled well on icy roads too. I live in Quartz Hill, CA. We don't see snow every year. But Dec 28, 2008 was a bad storm that made travel difficult for a week. But I drove over the mountains on a road to Green Valley. that was not closed. I currently run the APT tire on my pickup. I have only required 4wd once. When I pulled of the road into a turnout on US-50 near Monarch Pass in Colorado. Highway snow or ice have not been a problem. The truck has a Snug Top camper shell equiped for overlanding, and a LSD differential though.
