Depends on your system, and power settings. Really all it is doing is telling your computer to not worry about power saving (irrelevant if you already changed your power settings to high performance.) But a lot of people haven't. This will likely be noticed more on laptops/gaming laptops. Second what it does is set your computer to prioritize the game. You could also do this from the details page of task manager. This *should* improve fps, by varying degrees, for me it improves FPS by about 25-30.
