Container Damascus knife from nails and washers
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Thanks for watching
The gasket was left over from a previous project. The gasket is made of spring steel and has a nickel-plated surface, so it has a special pattern. The nail material is high carbon steel.

Hi mister beautiful knife beautifully made good job well done
Loved it really cool design. 😊👍
Very, very nice work. The finished look reminds me of flint if it were highly polished. It would be pleasure to own a knife like this.

Beautiful piece, my brother! I'm new to knife making, and I don't know what the blue liquid is? Can you please let me know? Thanks! Bob Gore, Metalstorm Forge! 😎👍🏻🔨🔥🔪

Do you find it unnecessary to add some carbon (or any oxygen binding agent) inside your canisters?

What do you mean by this question?

@@amazoniancustodian he didn't use any carbon inside the canister to ignite and burn the oxygen inside of the canister, preventing it from binding to the iron during forge welding. I was asking him if he found it to be unnecessary, meaning he doesn't see any difference in his billet without taking this precaution.

@noneyabidness9644 it's not necessary. Just coat the interior of the canister with white out or white spray paint that contains titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide will create enough of a barrier to keep the mild steel canister from welding to your higher carbon steel inside. Some other folks will do it with stainless steel foil that they burn to build up a soot layer on it and then use that to line the inside of the canister for the same effect but I think it's much more time consuming to go that route but there is more than one way to skin a cat. Also most people don't generally put material in the canister to burn unless there happens to be a significant amount of gappage in the materials used for the billet but if you do it everything properly all the gaps should be filled with the powdered steel.
