My guess is the stun applied from one of the contagion conditions.

I died fighting him after killed every minion. My camp member revive me. Then when i go back, hes just sitting there not hostile. Slimy doom is major part to avoid em from being hostile. Hes stunlocked everytime getting attack. Hes turn hostile if contagion spell Missed.
