I’m so sorry to hear about your son’s incarceration, but he is walking with Jesus now, and that freedom can never be taken away. We are all in some sort of prison before Christ meets us where we are and offers a freedom the world cannot give. Your son chose Christ. He may be locked in a prison building, but he is free in Christ and is spiritually seated with Him in the heavenly realms. I pray that he helps others find their way to Jesus, and that he continues to be protected and draw his strength each day from the Father above.

I used to cry so hard when I first listened to this song ( I still do, but not for the same reasons anymore! ) I spent 20 years of my life addicted to marijuana. I remember sitting in my van, listening to this song, with a joint in my fingers and sobbing. Begging God to make the words the true cry of my heart. I would sing and sincerely ask God to remove my addiction. Eventually, I finally let go of my selfish crutch and looked in my Fathers eyes. I realized that Jesus’ death was more than enough to free me from the chains of shame, addiction, and lies. I love this song and feel empowered by God as well when I hear it. October 8th is my birthday, so I feel obligated to say something. I have been privileged by God to never have even tried alcohol or drugs in my 59+ years. That is only God's grace, and probably his wisdom in knowing that I could not have handled it. He also knew that, with his help, you could. I pray that you would keep tuning to Jesus for strength to put him first in your life and that with every victory or even failure, you would only learn to trust him a tiny bit more and keep the first THING first.
