Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Suren Thuraisingham - Indians Are at the Highest Risk of Heart Diseases
This health-related podcast, like my earlier one on cancer with Dr Teo Soo Hwang (see link below) is also a personal one, as I have lost a number of friends and close acquaintances to heart disease in recent months.
In some cases, the deaths were shocking, since they happened to seemingly healthy, fit and well-adjusted people. Not at all - at least superficially - that fell within the definition of ‘high-risk’.
I resolved to attempt to better understand the Whys and Wherefores of heart disease, which meant there was only one person I could speak with: Dr. Suren Thuraisingham, an old family friend from back home in Penang.
Dr. Thuraisingham is a very experienced and highly respected cardiologist, having practised medicine in this field since 1990. He very kindly agreed to answer my questions about why even young and seemingly healthy people are dropping dead from heart attacks, among a whole host of related issues, including whether a link exists between Covid vaccinations and heart diseases.
(Dr. Thuraisingham is a Consultant Cardiologist at CVSKL (Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur), an integrated cardiac and vascular hospital in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. He has been a practicing cardiologist since 1990.)

Because of the effectiveness in Communication today, fb, whatspp, email etc.etcwe see more then what we have seen before. Actually in terms of percentage actually life expectancy has gone up even for people whose parents have had heart diseases. I go for frequent checkups, stopped my smoking in 2002 after being a smoker for 36 years, I am now 75, my latest test shows25% blockage on o e artery, I can't do a stent it requires to be at least 70% for that. By BP is in good control, my diabetes could be better and I address it on a daily basis. I make it a point to check my pressure 3 times a day and my blood glucose once a day.

Is it correct to say that the ‘best’ way to see into vessel blockage is via an angiogram? If so, should people above 40 and with risk factors just go straight for an angiogram despite some risks behind this procedure?

With due respect, if what the Dr says is true. , wouldn’t the incidence of cardiovascular events go down due to the advances in Statin drugs and surgical interventions. Instead it seems to get worse globally…… what gives?
