Full recording of a thunderstorm complex that formed on the 25th of June 2023, and impacted eastern county Down, NI. I recorded most of this indoors as it was quite a dangerous, unlike the previous storm on the 19th which was less lightning active and it's motion more predictable.
A very sheared line of convective showers passed through in the morning just behind the cold front, and showed some interesting behaviour including rotation.
Thunderstorms began to develop in the afternoon as a shortwave trough approached from the SW, and they quickly grew into multicells and tracked towards my location.
One cell just to the south that can be seen developing at earlier stages of the video became very electrically active, with lightning flashes once every 10-15 seconds or so, causing non stop thunder.
Dangerous cloud to ground lightning then begins from another cell approaching from the W, which produces strikes within 500m, and a deluge of moderately sized hail (about 1-1.5cm).
A third cell then produced yet more CG flashes, again with dangerous proximity. For most of this segment, the storm is recorded out the kitchen window.
As the storm passes, mammatus clouds can be seen in the dissipating cells to the rear of the system.
