CONSOLE vs PC | Should You Switch?

Several of you have been asking my for my opinion on Console vs PC after the release of the PS5 and XBSX so here you have it. I must admit consoles have come become far more efficient and powerful than we've ever seen before but even still PC holds the highest position performance wise. In the end it's a choice of preference and needs in your gaming aspirations. Casual gamers I say to you these new consoles are well worth the price. Want to be the best you can possibly be...PC is the gateway.

25+ years PC gamer here. Loved every minute of it, but now my PC started showing old age signs. Random crashes while gaming, bad performance etc. Now, if it needed to only have the GPU replaced, I’d say fine. But now my CPU must also be upgraded for the GPU to not be bottlenecked. And it’s like a never ending story, you just need to keep spending more and more money which add up, especially if you don’t wanna compromise. This is why a PS5 is very tempting. Especially being 35 years old, running a business and having a family… I just don’t have time. Plus, competitive FPS gaming is behind me and I’m playing mostly controller games anyways.

I built my current PC in 2015. I have saved about $1,080 NOT paying for Xbox Live/Playstation Gold in that time. More than enough to afford the GTX 1080 that I put into that PC a little later. For all its headaches, the upgradeability and flexibility that PC gives you is priceless. My game library is set in stone basically for my entire life. I don't have to worry about backwards compatibility. It's there.

@@Ronny-Swanton I am curious what is PlayStation Gold ? Lol As for subs, you pay 30$ a year, and you also save up over a 1000$ from monthly games alone, which is pretty much the consoles Humble Bundle. There are still a lot of misconception s when it comes to console gaming, especially from people that never did much of console gaming, or barely did their research (like stating that the games are cheaper, when in reality the sales are near identical across all platforms for the better part of last decade.) My advice? Get both PC and console of choice. This way you keep your console library , friends and trophies but also gain access to certain games (RTS genre) on PC and for modding certain games like Bugthesda games and CDPR. The rest of your games you can simply play on the console with great quality and optimization.

I bought pc to play WOW and then I decided to play some console games on PC , and this is my conclusion : playing games on console such as ps4 or ps5 or even Xbox S are much easier and fun than playing on PC , because on PC there are always other application running or need to be setup before playing game , and the other reason is I have 65 inch TV screen which makes the game amazing even with only 60 FPS . Even if there is a new console in the future you still can play your games from previous console on new one .such as playing ps4 games on ps5 console. Finally it is hard to beat the price of Xbox s with game pass . This only my opinion and totally agree with you and I am not against any opinion . Please keep up your great channel .

I switched and built a pc last year in stead of getting a ps5. I loved my ps4, i had so many hours of fun gaming with my mates. Consoles are great. But i cant go back. Gaming on pc is another experience entirely. Now i will qualify this by saying that i have a high end setup, and it wasnt/isnt cheap, but the performance difference is night and day. The upgrade paths on pc are endless, but thats part of the hobby. I even upgraded the switches on my gaming mouse, had to learn to solder... But i cant go back. The pc experience is too good. So id say that if you are passionate about gaming, its one of your main hobbys, build a pc! But as i know, you can have as much enjoyment on any platform as another, so if you are a kid or strapped for cash, make the switch when you can afford to. Trust me, pc hits different.

While it was a hassle because it was damaged during shipping and/or incorrectly assembled, it’s been amazing playing on. People sometimes forget the access to indie games like among us and one of my favorites for the Halloween season Phasmophobia! The pc also makes working on stream\video content so incredibly easy with dual monitor setups. Overall though I will say the frame rate bump didn’t really blow my mind as much as I thought coming from a ps5. Dope video though Bear hope you’re doing well!

Nope. Look at the release dates of PS consoles for example. 6-7 years apart each. I love PC gaming more then consoles (mouse + keyboard being only reason to be honest)but these prices of GPUs are insane. And you need to invest in PC more often over 7 years cause games get better and better. But games on console are limited until new one comes. Look at PS again or Xbox. It can push 4k right now. How much money you need to give to push 4k on PC? Assuming you can get your hands on at least 3080 to run things smoothly 30+ fps. Only benefit is for playing online games but if you are not heavily into that then console is a solution. In the end its all about fun. I don't like consoles cause I haven't bought one since SEGA days. I got out of touch for them but now I got PS5 and its cool. I feel more relaxed playing some dumb game then stressing myself over some shit on PC in online match. Of course you can play online games with PS but that doesn't have any flare to me. Maybe its age thing too. I am 33 and competing vs randoms online doesn't entertain me as it has during my WoW days 10 years ago.

When I started building my pc. Most of my price went to a 3080ti. I got lucky an hit at micro center. Getting solid setup that shows a substantial difference. You’ll rack up easy 2k. I’ve got close to 3k in mine. An still I go back to my Xbox series x. It’s so easy quite an loads up just a little slower than my pc. Maybe 2seconds slower. So not that big of a difference in my eyes. I’d rather play on next gen than my pc. But if you want to mod things pc would definitely be the way to go being able to add shaders. Crazy amount of stuff for Minecraft. Plus idk if it’s a issue with the graphics card. But on console I never crash. But my pc will not super often. But 2 times a month or so

I suggest getting a 3080 or 3090 if possible, it was a lot easier for me to get my hands on one cause of the price tag jump. Just watch videos on them an make sure to get a solid one. I will add that my build was about $1600 minus case, and about $1800 all in (I went with an itx case because I wanted a small form factor; NCase M1). Overall very happy I made the switch and looking forward to getting better with m&k. Great vid as always Bear.

I would rest this case with one argument Over the span of 7 years of owning a console or a PC New gen games are optimized for the consoles while PC's need to be optimized (upgraded) for new gen games so every 5-6 years $600 for a high end graphics and about $400 for an equally compatible CPU total of about $1000 every 5-6 years considering how fast new gen games are developing and how demanding they are. Still rocking my ps4 pro without any problems even after 6 years, while I have upgraded my PC from GT 610 to GTX 1070 to RTX 2070 now believe me it was not worth it considering how easily my old ps4 pro scratches my itch to play games on weekends. In short - consoles, video game company's fault if it runs bad, PC - your fault for being broke if the games runs bad.

I switched from PS4 to PC 6 months ago and it was the best decision I made I paid $2,000 cause I use it for work, art, editing, and gaming I have a 10700k and a RTX 3070 but the thing is getting a PC is always the better option and a PC isn't hard to build its as easy as Legos I'm not kidding just watch a PC tutorial on KZread if you still don't feel confident ask a friend to or someone else to build it for you or just get a prebuilt cause its a bit more then a Console but cheaper in the long run and Console isn't plug and play anymore you have to update the system software and install the game then have to download the update for that game which all those updates take longer cause Console bottlenecks your internet where PC doesn't bottleneck your internet, downloading games, updates, software updates, games, etc. If it was still plug and play then the same can be said about a prebuilt PC just plug it on and turn it on and that's it but as I said plug and play doesn't exist anymore cause of all the downloads you have to do on PC and Console also over time you save more money on PC with cheaper games, no paid online, emulators, easy upgradeability which is a pro not a con don't know why he said it was a con, you get to choose how much you want to spend on your PC, DLSS which is great for cheaper PC's to give them a bump in FPS and makes games look a lot more detailed for people on a cheaper budget PC, being able to use any brand of controller if you don't want to use M&K, and so much more and with Console your paying for $70 games brand new when on PC their still at $60 even cheaper if you find a CD key for the game and you have to pay $65 a year to play online on Console which is ridiculous also you can plug your PC into your TV and use it as a Console if you want so in reality PC is the better and cheaper option. If you actually look around most people still can't get Consoles either not just GPU's and Consoles are going for $800-$2000+ on EBAY and other online stores which is not worth it buying a PC around or at those prices would be a better investment and smarter use of your money and actually worth the price for the reasons I already explained and cause the Consoles are not worth the $500 in my opinion cause the tech in the Consoles each year are always already 5 years outdated and the performance is terrible and choppy also with Xbox and now PS exclusives coming to PC and some already have come to PC I don't really seen a reason for a console then just Netflix I have nothing against Consoles or people that play on them or anything just in my opinion its pointless to get a Console anymore but if you like Console then go ahead but just know your spending way more on Console in the long run and my RTX 3070 alone beats the Consoles so the Consoles don't compare to high end PC's like Air Bear thinks they do. I have built PC's for 6+ years so I know what I'm talking about and for anyone wondering the Consoles are closer to a Ryzen 7 3700x CPU and a RTX 2070/2070 super GPU getting the PC version of the 3700x and the RTX 2070 or RTX 2070 super would be a better idea for obvious reasons also not all games on Console are gonna support 120hz only a select few will be able to and only a select few will be able to 4k 60 more around 4k 30 at most especially since the 4k on Console isn't even actual 4k it's stretched 1080p and raytracing is pointless for Console cause only a select few games can use raytracing and not everyone is gonna use the 120hz or 4k or even the raytracing modes in general cause most people can't afford that I personally play on a 27 inch 1080p 240hz monitor I don't do 4k or raytracing cause I don't care about those features but on PC you can play all your games with raytracing with the 120hz and 4k all together its amazing also people are casual on PC to so saying if your casual to only go to Console is just ridiculous but also as I said if you prefer console then go ahead no hate but if your deciding to get a PC then get one it would be the best decision you make you will not want to go back to Console ever again cause all the money you save playing on PC can go to more games or PC upgrades in the future plus the old saying goes "when you go PC you won't want to go back to Console again" cause its true and all PC games can hit 120 FPS and 4k 60 and even 4k 120hz or most of them but I can tell Air Bear doesn't know much about PC based on this video which is fine he just needs to do more research next time also you don't need a $1,500 PC to experience the best you can get a cheaper one that would still get 144-240+ FPS so don't listen to Air Bear here a lot of his cons for PC are wrong and didn't mention all the pros to PC but I did in this comment so don't believe the cons he's talking about for PC nothing against him but he needs to do more research before making videos like this but in general play on what you want and prefer at the end of the day we're all gamers no matter the platform I just hate Console peasants that lie about PC that don't do simple research but instead make themselves look like idiots but for anyone that was to get into PC gaming and need help or have questions you can respond to me and ask me any questions I love helping people out.

@JerkFlowCotto Yeah I grew up on PC and Console and I didn't care about the Consoles exclusives when they were exclusives cause if you bought a Console just to play a few games then that person would be a idiot in my opinion for wasting money just to play a few exclusive games but getting to play Halo, Gears Of War, and soon God Of War on my PC just feels and will feel awesome cause I played Gears Of War and Halo with a friend of mine growing up which I'm still friends with to this day on the 360 it brought back memories and playing it on the superior platform felt great especially on a 240hz monitor and I agree some new games that come out aren't that great anymore but some still are to me but everyone has their likes and dislikes for games which is cool and as I said I have nothing against people playing on Console just hate the ones that lie about PC and everything I grew up on Console and PC so yeah I was happy about playing a bunch of my old favorite games I played on my PS1, PS2, PS3, 360, and my old PC on my new PC that I have now which has a 10700k and a RTX 3070 its a high end beast rig I love it and my RTX 3070 alone beats the Consoles by a mile I was happy to switch to PC cause there is a lot of PC games I have been wanting to play for years to and they feel so much more smoother and is a better experience on PC also you can be a casual or hardcore player doesn't matter what person you're there is games on PC for anyone's game type and taste its amazing and I can play multiplayer games without paying for a bullshit subscription its great also the graphics on PC are just beautiful but yeah everyone has their styles for games and such nothing wrong with that also if you need help with your PC budget or any other questions about PC let me know I have built PC's for 6+ yrs. and I love helping others out with their builds and I'm happy I helped you out with making a decision welcome to the PC Community were happy and glad to have you ^^.

Other things to add about this. Console charge you twice for internet, so take that amount of the cost of pc. Say $30 dollars a year minimum. Then games are much cheaper on pc too. For instance. On console I had 6 or 7 racing games so I can try different cars and tracks. On pc I only need one and have thousands of cars and tracks, plus even the physics can be improved all with player content. Dirt rally when I had console... $60 , dirt rally on Steam a couple months later when I got my pc $5 when it was still $50 on console. Plus it can be upgraded instead of needing replaces when next console comes out. For me the jump from PS3 to 4 wasn't enough and I went pc instead. Ps5 does seem better but my 8 year old pc can still max every game anyway.

I'm honestly fed up with PC gaming. I'm not fed up with the good graphics and smooth frame rate, I'm just DONE with the launchers. Almost every major company has ditched steam and made their own, and it is a pain in the ASS. GOG tried to rectify this with a mostly working launcher that connects and combines all of them into one, but they disconnect randomly. I'm sick of constantly having to prove that I own a stupid game that I paid full price for, I'm sick of constantly signing in when I clearly clicked "remember this computer" they're making you do do the whole "click every picture that has a bicycle" "click all the dice that add up to six" JUST START THE DAMN GAME Half the launchers are paired with authenticators on your phone that adds to the inconvenience. Plus many of the major recent releases have these anti piracy checking software that literally like triples the boot time, I'm in a game much faster on console and my PC is NOT slow. There are plenty of cons to consoles as well but I'm getting too old and too busy for anything but absolute convenience. The Nintendo switch is a glowing example, I'm in a game in SECONDS.

Also "performs well" probably isn't an objective measurement. Unless you're super competitive u don't need 120 fps let alone 240. That's not what's making the most difference when u play online. 60 fps vs 240 fps won't bridge a 20% skill deficit. Or 10% even. I'd say make the switch and keep ur price around 800 bucks. I'd even be willing to help u source parts man. You'll put perform that ps5 and u can keep ur controller.

PC is not just a gaming platform. That in itself makes it better for casuals, because it's just a bonus you get alongside browsing the internet, working in softwares, creating photo albums, watching movies etc. etc. while consoles either can't do those things or are simply not made for them and feel clunky to access or work with. The limitations with the amount of buttons is insane compared to a PC keyboard. I can't imagine playing games like Warframe that require so many keybinds on a controller. Not to mention the cumbersome aiming and moving. Most of the console gaming I've seen on YT had severe problems keeping track of their surroundings and flicking 180° to aim at something behind them. Simply problems PC gamers can hardly imagine. The only big plus for the consoles I can think of is the linear joystick motion which cannot be replicated with WASD so it's probably better for racing games and such. With the average PC I have right now I'd be willing to pay for a console and all games I own on PC right now maybe 15-20 euro assuming they'd not have any mandatory monthly subscriptions or other gross hidden costs, but I doubt the console market will ever get that affordable.
