    @@TahaElAmineHaddouche You assume E1=E2 when E1 is mgh when the object is at rest at the beginning, and E2 is (mv^2)/2+mg(2r), and solve for h. The velocity in E2 is the critical velocity that the object needs to have (at the very least) to continue in a circular motion and not drop off midway. The critical velocity is measured by the square root of the acceleration due to gravity (a=g=10m/s^2 in the Earth's case) times the radius of the circle. If you want I can send you a picture of the calculation.

  • @dangerous_woman

    @dangerous_woman

    He can take m as a common factor on both sides and cancel it out if there’s no friction, for example mgh = 1/2mv^2 (the m’s go). But if there’s friction since m is not a common factor he has to include it, like mgh = 1/2mv^2 + W (m can’t go). Hope this helps.

  • @zs1175

    Hi, I just wanted to help out. I think it doesn’t matter in this case because the height at point B is 0m. 29.57-0=29.57. So you can calculate the height of C with A. You could also do calculate with B if you wish (using kinetic energy) and you should get around the same answer.

    How I would think about it is the work done is positive because the force and distance are in the same direction, which equals the change in KE. There are no opposite vectors to make a negative change in kinetic energy in this problem.

    You're talking about the number of energy lost. Technically, it is correct to say the positive number. For example, you can say "I lost 30 dollars gambling yesterday" or "My back account has -30 dollars/my account went 30 dollars negative" so you can say energy exchanged/gained was -1350 or 1350 was lost

    in problem no.5, TKE=KEa + KEb. Since the car B is moving to the left, do you think that should be negative??

    no because the question is asking for the total thermal energy produced. Therefore direction has no play, only magnitude.

    On question 2, how does the angle of the hill not affect how high it will go?

    This was months ago so you prob figured it out by now, but in case someone else has this same question, gravity is independent of the path taken, think of it as always pushing down. So whether you are going sideways or not has no effect. Since gravity is the only force playing a role in how high up the hill it will go, the angle does not affect it.

    How come on a slant with an angle there is only potential, but when it’s a hill it’s potential and kenetic on the left side?
