I have a request. While adding new videos, please do that in context of an existing (or, if necessary, newly created) playlist. It becomes difficult to keep track of randomly uploaded Videos which respectively fall into several random categories (unless sorted) and searching them manually to discover which video is on what topic is not efficient. For question 3, part B; why is the work of friction not negative?

The work of friction it is negative at the part (A), PE + KE - W = KE. But when it comes to the part (B), it becomes positive. PE + KE = KE + W.

Just wanna double check my understanding, but is the work done by friction equivalent to heat/thermal energy? Since heat energy is energy lost from the total mechanical energy?

this is a really good video!
For number 3 its easier if u just use the the final velocity you get from part a and use it as the initial and the work equation is now Initial Kinetic=Final Kinetic + work done by friction
At 15:18 , will the 12 kg block also coul create sound energy , so will some of the energy be wasted

watching this helps me not feel pain even though I don't know how to solve because I dont know the energy formulas
On number 3 part b, why is it that the work created by the friction is positive? Isn't it negative since it opposes to the motion?
Love this
Work energy theorem is better than it I always use WET Because it is easy and if friction is given than we can't find potential energy of friction by mechanical energy conservation

@@TahaElAmineHaddouche You assume E1=E2 when E1 is mgh when the object is at rest at the beginning, and E2 is (mv^2)/2+mg(2r), and solve for h. The velocity in E2 is the critical velocity that the object needs to have (at the very least) to continue in a circular motion and not drop off midway. The critical velocity is measured by the square root of the acceleration due to gravity (a=g=10m/s^2 in the Earth's case) times the radius of the circle. If you want I can send you a picture of the calculation.
This was super helpful thanks
Ok, so quick question why is it that when it is frictionless you are removing all of the m in question 4 but when it is friction you are plugging in the values for m?
@dangerous_woman
6 ай бұрын
He can take m as a common factor on both sides and cancel it out if there’s no friction, for example mgh = 1/2mv^2 (the m’s go). But if there’s friction since m is not a common factor he has to include it, like mgh = 1/2mv^2 + W (m can’t go). Hope this helps.
🔥🔥🔥
for question 3 part A i got 64.8 m/s.

Hello! I just had a question about number 6. For number 6 part (b) it said to find how high is point C relative to point B, but I think you found it relative to point A?
@zs1175
2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I just wanted to help out. I think it doesn’t matter in this case because the height at point B is 0m. 29.57-0=29.57. So you can calculate the height of C with A. You could also do calculate with B if you wish (using kinetic energy) and you should get around the same answer.

in 16:00 isnt the energy negative, since it's the variation between the final KE and the initial KE? the final KE would be 0 and the initial, 1350J...
@samanthagupton1865
2 жыл бұрын
How I would think about it is the work done is positive because the force and distance are in the same direction, which equals the change in KE. There are no opposite vectors to make a negative change in kinetic energy in this problem.
16:37 why nor negative 1350? since this is the energy lost.
@Ana-mu1td
2 ай бұрын
You're talking about the number of energy lost. Technically, it is correct to say the positive number. For example, you can say "I lost 30 dollars gambling yesterday" or "My back account has -30 dollars/my account went 30 dollars negative" so you can say energy exchanged/gained was -1350 or 1350 was lost

On question 2, how does the angle of the hill not affect how high it will go?
@malekhaddad5860
2 жыл бұрын
This was months ago so you prob figured it out by now, but in case someone else has this same question, gravity is independent of the path taken, think of it as always pushing down. So whether you are going sideways or not has no effect. Since gravity is the only force playing a role in how high up the hill it will go, the angle does not affect it.
