Conservation Challenges: The Corona Virus Litter Crisis
Did you know that part of our solution to corona virus is causing a problem in the environment?
Yes, that's right. Disposable masks and gloves, amongst other things, have been finding their way into the natural world at an alarming rate, and this is having effects on wildlife that we never thought to predict.
In this video I give a simple, easy-to-understand explanation of the corona virus litter crisis, and why it's such a challenge in the field of conservation today.
This is the second episode of a series called 'Conservation Challenges', in which I cover some of the biggest challenges that conservationists face today.
In this episode I venture into the beautiful Leigh Woods in Bristol, to see if the litter crisis extends into even the wildest corners of our country's cities.

I love using my reusable masks, not only are they much more fun (I have a few superhero, animals and princess ones!) but more comfortable to wear too! I cannot understand how litter ends up where it does sometimes, it's truly bizarre. Thanks for raising awareness of this issue, and can't wait to see part two!

It's awful how much litter can be found in wild areas. And discarded masks and gloves are just disgusting. I've seen so many. Not to mention the bags of dog poo tied up in trees like the one in the background of your outro piece!

exactly Greg. Hopefully my follow-up episode will make a difference in sharing some of the solutions :)
Eating all natural whole foods Buy from local farms Cooking your own food Meal prepping When I do these things I see my waste output per week cut into a tenth of plastic or paper waste. We all need food to survive But buying foods that are processed make us eat more then we should and produce more waste in production and portions we purchase Guess what I'm getting at is farm to table fresh reduces my personal waste significantly Give it a try and let me know what you think stay positive we are very capable creatures and are capable of fixing our mistakes Keep the faith spread awareness ❤

Another note switching all containment sources and cooking supplies to glass or ceramic is a very safe and reliable way to store, cook, and eat food with. No plastics or papers or metals
