Conowingo Dam Bald Eagles 2021
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
These are some of my favorite shots from my 2 day trip to the Conowingo Dam in Maryland during December. For anyone that isn’t familiar with the dam, let me tell you why this place is so special. On the Susquehanna River just north of Chesapeake Bay a man-made dam creates a fishing feast for bald eagles. Fish that go through the dam’s turbines are temporarily stunned, forcing them to float to the surface of the river. This makes for easy targets for bald eagles and other wildlife and attracts them from all over to this fishing hot spot.

I know!
Eagles are always amazing! Thanks for the good work.
Sir, you have some serious skills. I am planning to visit the dam for the first time this winter (hopefully in January). I am simultaneously inspired and intimidated by your work. Following that dropped fish all the way to the water was genius.

Thank you! Good luck with your visit! I heard spring is great time to go as well with the shad run.

I was there last weekend and it was a very quiet day unlike others I've been. I will try to go again in a couple of months. Great video Mike

Wow, the Eagles put up quite a show for you and you captured it all on film with astonishing quality. If I should ever go swimming there, I will remember your comments. I don't want to get stunned...

Wow Mike! I am amazed by the aerobatic capability of the eagles, it is truly awesome! Do they drop the fish to be ready to fight? That talon lock sequence was really cool too! As mentioned below by Justin, "you have some serious skills sir!!!"
Go there first week of April there are hundreds Of them when the shad Fish spawn
Always a joy to watch!! Well done and Happy New Years!

@@mikelemeryfilms Absolutely bro!! Happy New Year!!
Some nice footage. I would have edited out the shots where the eagles are behind those power lines crossing from the dam to Rowland Island.

Thanks, why would you edit that out?

Because it's distracting and not very attractive when those wires are so close in front of the birds and because it would be easy to make your "in point" after the birds drop below the wires and the wires are no longer in the frame. Of course, it's a personal decision ... I just try to avoid them in stills and in video when I am there. Still a nice video ... just my two cents.

@@rghurst I’m documenting the bald eagles at conowingo dam and the wires are a part of the dam. I’m not trying to make it look better than it is, I’m showcasing their behavior,

@@mikelemeryfilms I think having the dam infrastructure in the background is great. It's just the shots that have those cables/wires directly/close in front of the birds that I think you could do without. It's just a few seconds here and there. Again, it's your video, so feel free to ignore me completely ;-)
Why do they bully the fish dropping and skipping them 🤣🥲
