My guess: Money and time...as always unfortunately(honestly the biggest foes of creativity). Producing a game with multiple endings triggered by different events, different paths and different choices is already hard and hella time consuming just writing it. I think Detroit had like 80 something possible outcomes/ courses of events. That is already crazy detailed for one game and I don't want to know how much time went into developing these plots and courses of action and how much got scrapped and rewritten alone no counting all the game developing stuff like concept art or modeling. Next thing is that the characters are done via motion capturing with real life actors. So they essentially had the actors play out the entire game, we are talking hours of just raw movie footage basically, beforehand so the acting was perfect. This takes a lot of time and a hella amount of money just to film. Then you have to program the game, model and render which again takes time, money and data space, not to mention translation and voice acting work for other country releases. Imagine the amount of work you have to do translate and voice like 30 ish hours of in game dialogue bits. Not to mention the amount of work for casting the VA's and the amount of money to pay them. With games being thrown left and right on the market at almost neck breaking pace, I assume it is for most studios simply too big of a risk money and time wise having nothing to throw on the market while your rivals just deliver game after game. Games, movies, shows and all that have a 50/50 chance of either being a flop or a hit. It is rather difficult predicting the market and the audience since it can change on a whim. I guess for most studios it is easier to not invest millions and years of development in such a highly detailed game when they could produce a smaller less work intense game being able to release within a year. Essentially it almost always comes down to money and time (and work intensity because laaaaazy people often have the leader positions)

@@user-cr9fk7tw3v 1: writing a dozen different endings with a hundred different paths and triggers for the endings takes a sh*t ton of time and mental work, 2: motion capturing takes a hundred years, 3: sifting through the recorded footage takes time not to mention doing the entire game stuff like programming, modeling and such and 4: VA casting and recording for non english releases is another time and money consuming thing. In essence, everything boils down to time and money. Two things a lot of companies, be it game or movie studios, aren't necessarily willing to invest these days due to a big rival market that throw games out on the market with neck breaking speed. Things like these have a 50/50 rate to either turn into a hit or a flop. Most head honchos rather produce a cheaper less detailed game fast rather then investing years and millions of dollars for a game that might flop. (the market and audience is pretty unpredictable. It can change in a whim so chances are rather high that a game might flop simply because it took too long to come out and missed the popularity high). Soooo elaborate games like Detroit are a big gamble each time hence a game like this coming out every once in a blue moon

Crazy how over the years Connor became My fav one out of the three, I played this game when I was 12, i still liked him but his whole story seems boring to me, but after remembering bits from these shorts, i realized that you need to have some mental intelligence to understand it

Самое интересное (для русских людей и перевода игры) это то что в оригинале про андроидов не говорят он/она а говорят оно. И создатель сказал единственное спасение человечества, стало девиантом и это передает что андроид стал и угрозой человечества но также и его спасением (в виде Конора). В русском дубляже это не передать так как в нашем языке странно говорить оно о чем живом. Я надеюсь меня поняли и русские и английски читатели и приняли мою точку зрения😊

Anyway I recommend playing it, the game isn't very expensive considering other games and there are discounts for this game quite often. I also at first saw the edits only but I assure you playing it yourself and making decissions on your own is at another level of experience.

This game actually really changed my perspective on AI. Im under the impression that if an automaton can, under its own power with minimal human influence, request and desire the same rights a human has, then it, too, deserves those rights, as it now has a conciousness, personality, and can form its own thoughts and opinions, and the only thing that separates humans from chimps is 1% of our dna, so why cant we call something thats even closer to us an equal?
