The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Connie is 84 years old. Bobby died back in 1973 at the age of 37. He had serious health problems his entire life and repeated bouts of rheumatic fever as a boy left him with a weakened heart. He was well aware that he might not get to be an old fellow and lived his life accordingly.

And not a bad actor either! Was very saddened when he died. Saw this when I was seven as we watched Ed Sullivan every Sunday night.

Wow! I have seen the first half before, and adored it for years, but I have never seen that "You're the Top" bit before. It is just SO MUCH FUN, and classy in a way that has all but evaporated in modern pop. What a joy to watch even sixty years later!

Bobby married Sandra Dee....he died way way too young. Good video. Thank you for posting it. Memories...Ed had a great show where Sunday Night. 🎶💫💫🎶

Love brought these two artists together as they were romantically involved. As Connie would later share in an interview, they were planning on eloping, but Connie's father put an end to their plans. As a result, Bobby would marry Sandra Dee by the end of 1960. But what a special moment in time as Bobby just scored the biggest hit of 1959 & Connie was starting a long run of continuous hit records.

Marvellous; finally more Connie Francis on this great channel. It is really nice to see these two songs as one clip, but ... as there are still about 25 of Connie's performances on the show that have yet to be presented here I think it is a bit of a shame to start recycling clips that are already available. Please put on Connie's renditions of Going out of my head/Sunny, The impossible dream, I found myself a guy, the medley of her million sellers or the complete Judy Garland medley. Thank you!

👑 Connie you're the Queen and My favorite singer. Bobby is ok but a real man would have cooled off after a father threatened him and if he had brains he would have known that your father would not actually do anything to him and end up in jail when he was in charge of your career with you and becoming a millionaire. He had a wife and kids. Bobby let you down by not simply waiting a little while for you to get married. Real love does not have someone giving up on the other person. He owes you if he tries to get back with you. 😉 ❤

@@nanettenn9734 Woulda, shoulda, coulda 😂🤣 but let’s deal with facts over feelings. Frank was with the Hoboken four, Harry James, Tommy Dorsey, Nelson Riddle, Count Basie and oh yes Quincy Jones. Frank was a big influence on Miles Davis on how Frank approached singing ballads. Oh did I mention Frank Sinatra’s acting chops and how he broke down certain racial barriers in America ?
