Im from this city born and raised. My grandmother told me during the 50s it was a great city with New York likeness to it and once drugs and uprise of violence came in the 60s,70s and 80s especially .. The city hasnt recovered much like any other big city with its crime. Some ppl in the comments say it doesn't look so bad, yeah neither does Compton with it's nice looking cookie cut neighborhoods with palm trees but go to Compton and find out then 💯 .. Same thing with Bridgeport .. Come visit and find out 🗣

The other problem is the registered voters of Bridgeport, who, election year after election year, continued to vote Democrat. Over and Over. Two former Mayors were sentenced to jail. When the people vote in corrupt politicians into office in city council, they attack big business (manufacturing). So the factories slowly close up, lay off their employees and pack up and move down South or Overseas. Then hundreds even thousands of people go on unemployment insurance for 26 weeks, and when that runs out, they sell Crack and other illegal narcotics. The problem just snowballs from there. Bridgeport was the manufacturing capital of New England several decades ago. Now that is forever gone.

I used to live in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Despite being ghetto, it defiantly was better than any of the worst hoods like Philadelphia, St Louis, south side Chicago, Detriot, and so on. It is typical major CT city that is past its glory days.

the only nice area of Bridgeport is in the black rock section as you gradually get closer to the coast. it takes millions of dollars and interested developers to clean that up. Boston as whole looks better.

a lot of industrialized towns and cities in America ended up looking pretty rough. in massachusetts especially in Middlesex County it's going in the opposite direction you have earn enough to buy or rent and the renovated apartment buildings so far look nice. average $2,000 -$3,000 a month for rent. keeping the trouble out.

I hung out in Father Panik, "the Vil," hung out in Marina village, hung out in PT Barnum pj's, State St. w Mariano from #1 Family. Hung out in East main st. I was all over Bpt. Everywhere you went there were multitudes of people hanging out. It was alive but at the same time violent. Thank God I left that lifestyle. Not gonna lie it was fun, exciting but heartless & uncaring.

This part of Connecticut is even if you live in a nice neighborhood in Bridgeport you are really not that far from the hood, my parents moved us to the suburbs of Bridgeport and yet everyday I still had to go through the hood because we still weren’t far from it, I live in Ontario, California now and I haven’t seen the ghetto in this city and even if there is one it’s really far from where I live.

I left almost 6 months ago, miss my fam and friends in the boxing gym and Jiu Jitsu gym, but living in Bridgeport was hell for 31 years even if you live in the suburbs of Bridgeport you still had to go through the hood everyday and it felt no different than living in the west end where I grew up for 13 years.

By population, Bridgeport's the biggest, followed by Stamford, New Haven, Hartford, Waterbury. (Though, I do predict that by the 2030 census, Stamford will be bigger just because of the massive influx of NY'rs moving into Southern CT in 2020 and 2021. And Stamford is basically on the NY border.)
