Coniston Village Walk | The Lake District National Park Cumbria | 4K

Take a walk around this beautiful little village in the Lake District in Cumbria. Coniston grew as both a farming village, and to serve local copper and slate mines. It grew in popularity as a tourist location during the Victorian era, thanks partially to the construction of a branch of the Furness Railway, which opened to passenger traffic in 1859 and terminated at Coniston railway station. The poet and social critic John Ruskin also popularised the village, buying the mansion Brantwood on the eastern side of Coniston Water in 1871. Before his death, he rejected the option to be buried in Westminster Abbey, instead being laid to rest in the churchyard of St Andrew's, Coniston. Ruskin Museum, established in 1901, is both a memorial to Ruskin and a local museum covering the history and heritage of Coniston Water and the Lake District.

Even if you aren't capable of walking up to 'The Old Man' peak, Coniston Village has plenty to offer, great views near the river and a beautiful church and churchyard.

Have done Old Man wasn't too fit at the time but I'm glad I did it the views incredible :)

Thank you very much Ian.. I know..very remote.. I often film these villages and wish there was no cars! Lake Coniston is stunning on a nice day..I will definitely get some footage with the drone this year..I took it this day, but it was too wet to send the drone up!

This was filmed in the afternoon.. it were pretty quiet, but was mid week and out of season..it get packed at Summer!
