Coniston Old Man - Lake District Walks

This is a fantastic route up Coniston Old Man in the Lake District National Park.
It takes in Brown Pike, Buck Pike and Dow Crag along the way.
Starting from Walna Scar Road carpark you make your way past Torver Bridge and up the far side of Brown Pike. From here on a clear day you are rewarded with fantastic views over to the west coast and the Isle of Man. The route then continues past Buck Pike and Dow Crag towards Coniston Old Man (803m) Wonderful views of Goats Water and Coniston Water accompany you all along the way to the summit itself.
The decent path from the summit takes you back to the carpark past Low Water and some disused mine workings.
A great easy to navigate circular route of just under 10 Kilometres taking around 4 to 6 hours to complete.
Stay safe and have fun
Mike

Nice! There was a section in that downhill I wouldn't be able to navigate, (old busted up leg) Aloha from Hawaii! 🌈 loved the old slate quarry buildings.

Hey Noel, Thanks for giving the video a watch. Yea it’s a steep descent down from the top. My knees were hurting a bit when I arrived at the bottom. Yes the old buildings were very interesting. A lot of history there for sure.!! I love Hawaii.!! I visited Oahu a number of years ago, loved every moment I was there.!! Thank you so much for dropping me an Aloha, it made me remember my visit. All the very best my friend Mike🙂

Walked nearly the same route as this today, however turned back on ourselves at the top of the Old Man and came back past Goat's Water, hate coming down through all the loose rocks on the quarry slopes. Couldn't see a thing from any of the tops due to cloud and blowing a gale on top of the Old Man but a great walk nevertheless. Great video

Jaime Tyrell Awww it’s a shame you didn’t get good weather Jaime for your walk. It is a wonderful route. Yes those rocks coming down via the quarry are tuff on the knees and can be slippery in wet conditions. It sounds like you still had a great day though and that’s all that matters. I’ve lost count to how many views I’ve not managed to see due to low cloud🙄 However it makes us savour them more when we get em. Thank you for taking time out to watch the video and I’m super pleased you enjoyed it. Happy hiking and stay super safe. Mike🙂

Hey thank you so much for giving my channel a sub. It’s extremely appreciated fella👍🙂 Your right...I haven’t ever mentioned in any of my videos what equipment I use. I honestly didn’t think anyone would be that interested in the camera and sound equipment. Ok... So for the majority of the camera work I use a Cannon 200D on a tripod together with either a Rode Videomicro or if I’m far away from the camera a Rode wireless go set up. Any driving shots would be with a Gopro. The sound quality you get from a Gopro is pants so I normally record my sound separately with a H1 recorder and sync them together in editing. That’s if I remember to bring my H1🙄 The backpack I use is my photography backpack. (I do a lot of still photography you see) It allows easy access to all the gear as it has big zip in the back. Drone wise.. I either use a Mavic Air 1 or I use the Air 2. I have not done any wild camp videos as of yet, even though I have been wild camping for years. The reason being with the global situation being the way it is I’ve stayed away from that side of things till things come under more control. However we seem to be getting our freedom back now so I do have a few camping videos in the pipe line for the summer and winter hopefully. I will try and remember to mention what equipment I use in those videos🙂 Thank you again for the sub and especially for taking the time out to watch my videos🙂 All the very best and stay super safe🙂 Mike
