The cumbia:
The term Cumbia comes from the Afro word "Cumbé", which means "Party".
Cumbia is a very popular dance folk musical genre from the Colombian Caribbean. It is a product of the fusion of the Afro and Indigenous cultures of Colombia.
The percussive base is made up of the cheerful, llama and tumba drums. Completing the format with maracas, guache or guasá, guacharaca, and bagpipes. Later singing and the accordion would be added.
In the 1940s, Cumbia moved to urban centers with lounge orchestras, later influencing groups from all over Latin America. In
Argentina Cumbia began to have a lot of success towards the end of the 1950s with groups such as Los Wawancó, Cuarteto Imperial and Chico Novarro.
