CONFLUENCE - New Large Flow Paintings by Jonas Gerard

When multiple currents of creativity move in the same direction, their meeting point becomes a nexus from which something greater flows. For some time now two such currents have been gathering in Jonas' artistic headwaters: the urge to create very large paintings and the desire to further explore flow painting.
Large canvases are where Jonas' creative spirit soars best. Reminiscent of his early days as a dancer, his abstract, gestural style is in peak form when his brush has plenty of space to roam, not confined by the canvas' edge.
The other creative current propelling him has been a call to return to the flow painting techniques he first explored in his 2011 FLUID POETRY show. Working with fluid acrylics takes him deeper than ever into his philosophy of "letting go". Forgoing expectations and control, he allows the colors to find their own paths, and the art that emerges is imbued with that spirit of flowing freedom.
With this show we celebrated the CONFLUENCE of these two powerful currents. When flow painting meets large canvases, the spirit of freedom is given the space to be free. This liberty has re-energized and refined Jonas' work in all sizes. Small and mid-sized works are displayed alongside the larger paintings whose creation was their inspiration.

He says he doesn't paint,,, but over the years of painting he has developed a very sophisticated and solid sense of composition and design and color.. He is definitely painting, and has really gotten soooo much better in my opinion. When he says this is the big one, he knows he has developed into a more advanced state in his art.

thank you very much Sir Jonas for sharing your wisdom. ^_^ "I don't paint... the music does... I just dance with it!" these words came from the deepest core of your being in which only art can picture out. thank you so much for inspiring me! ^_^

lol exactly, pretentious art snob wannabes, if they were real artists they would be painting coherent scenes and objects not abstract fluid. At least a regular abstract painter uses painting skills and techniques, here it literally does it for him.

you have to realize the depth artists(well true true artists) see things. I can see how creating something is art in itself. Some artists are really crazy and deep but thats what makes them great. They believe in what they are doing as a higher level of just random art lines

Jonas, I️ am an amateur liquid acrylic as well. I️ have used the trowel a few times but I️ get more of a drag than a soft flow across the canvas as you do. I️ use pouring medium with my acrylic but still get a very rough, staggered movement with the trowel. Any suggestions that you would offer...more pouring medium? More water? Less push on the trowel and let it move itself? Thanks for your thoughts. I️ have followed your art for years and once you started the more liquid work that you do...I️ am mesmerized.

I love the colours and I think they're pretty.yes they're are artists that are more advanced and complicated and frankly just plain talented.i do find it funny though how almost every everyone looks like they're in awe and completely transfixed lol.
