I prepare for presentations by saying "immediately immutable" twenty times.

You should have went more into the CLI commands for the linux box to prep it for immutability. Nice chat, but really didnt go into actually setting up linux repo for immutibility. There is much more to it than just clicking a box.

@20:44 "Super Eazy none of this stuff is crazy unobtainable hard to get started stuff" LOL! Yeah right!! It's easy to set up a file share on Windows server. But you first have to have a server set up and running, then you have to know how to create the share. If you don't know how to do either one of those, you are screwed. If you have never messed with Ubuntu at all, it's totally GREEK.

If you are unsure how to set up a simple windows share, you lack the experience to be working on VEEAM.

So slow. So much sales foreshadowing. Get to the technical points. The small talk fluff is in the way of tangible detail.

I had been using Altaro for past 6 years and thought I would try veeam 11 backup. OMG the most bloated mess I've seen. 30 min+ installation, sql 2016 like 11 extra installations just to get the server ready for the actual installation. 6.4 gig ISO. All to back up VMs. This is what happens after you add features for years with zero regard to bloat. It needs a total rewrite from the ground up. Shame on people reviewing this that some how fail to see that the king has no cloths. I'm not saying Altaro is perfect just did not realize how bloated veeam is.

IJ, This does not seem right. I routinely build new Veeam consoles in 10 minutes. It's a few button clicks to install, and in most cases it's quite speedy, so sounds environmental. As for the 6GB iso, keep in mind we embed agents (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.) Disk capacity also is a rare problem.

Something was certainly done wrong on your installation (although I dont see how considering how elementary it was). I installed VEEAM completely in less than 2 hours. Whatever you did, you did incorrectly. If youre worried about a 6.4 Gb ISO in 2022, then youre behind the times. 6.4GB is smaller than the music library on my cellphone. This isn't 2003.

@@roko8936 Sorry to confuse you. I was not saying ALL isos are big nothing about videos music or cell phones. I was comparing one program to another. Veeam is bloated in comparison to Altaro. Veem is faster on a few tests but its not as clean with its interface vs Altaro. I'm a hardware engineer and have been in computers since? 1980. I've seen it all. Veeam does have decent transfer speeds but it is still a pig compared to other products. Its all relative 2022 vs 2022 not 2002. If I did that its even more of pig. That can be forgiven but not the user interface and being far less intuit reminds me of the OLD wordstar that everyone used, very cumbersome but its all they had at the time. Veeam needs a re write. Yes im harsh but I also have more experience than most.
