I don't know why but I LOVEEEE Parliamentary Procedure. Probably because I am a theater kid so I am used to remembering lines and stuff. I also like arguing and getting every point in so that's probably why.

hey i was on the parliamentary procedure team who got second in the state finals for florida and if you want to debate refer then talk abt what the committee can investigate. For example if the motion is i move the chapter buy a tractor. you could say, the committee can determine which tractor would be the best for us. This is because the purpose of refer is to send a pending motion to a committee so that it may be investigated and put into better condition for the assembly to consider at a later time.

Don't they have to read the minutes and officer's reports or something? I don't know, that is what my teacher taught me. Please explain

They did that at the old FFA contests, but they changed the contest rules and they don't have to do it anymore.

@@universerose6209 Ok. My Teacher says that in Texas we do it by a different set of rules, so I guess the Texan rules didn't change with the national.

So, the president & secretary still have to write the minutes of the parliamentary debate and submit it for judging.

Brother Conductress An Officer team does not have to have a parliamentarian. And this is a competition for Conduct of a Chapter meeting, which only has the seven officers seen in the video

Brother Conductress Usually in a parliamentary procedure team, the auxiliary officers (chaplain, historian, parliamentarian) aren’t included.

They're not holding a meeting, they're rehearsing a play. None of this is smooth or real. They're answering questions before They're asked. They should be given easy topics by the judges so there's no script reading

This is not a play. I have done this for almost 2 years now. The members have no idea what the topic will be, or what motion they will get, (such as main motion, recess, or postpone definitely). They have 1 minute at the beginning to decide what their debates will be and if they are for or against the motion. They genuinely have to memorize parliamentary rules, because if they get a question wrong, it docks of points in their final score.
