I miss watching Jiyai Shin on the LPGA. I'm glad to see she's still crushing it. She has great energy.

She's really the only player in their mid-30's that I see who's able to relatively consistently contend atop leaderboards. Ashleigh Buhai, Anna Nordqvist, and Amy Yang do so on a more sporadic basis.

Mone's last win came in August 2022 and her 2023 season had been a struggle. Inami said that she's dealt with injuries and been tinkering with her swing all year long. “I had a good start this year. However, from the middle of the season I was struggling not only with my golf but also with my body condition. It made me unable to play well,” Inami said about her JLPGA season. “Also, I did not feel comfortable with my swing all year long and changed my swing four times. But, I got a good feeling with my swing this week, it worked well for success this tournament.”

Why so few international players participated in the tournament! We see mainly Japanese players.

It's a co-sanctioned event with the JLPGA. Kinda like when the LPGA and LET have their co-sanctioned tournaments in Europe. There were 35 players in this field from the JLPGA. I get the sense that the majority of top LPGA players were keying in on the Annika Driven at Pelican, Florida with a higher purse. Too tough to play both Japan AND Florida back to back successfully with jet lag, not to mention the big one (CME Championship) starts the week of Nov.13.
