Very cool. I love the video. I am looking to do something similar and I have a question. When packing the concrete, I noticed you packed extra into a cross shaped rib on the underside of the board. Was this done to offer extra strength to the board or for some other reason? Also, before using the stampshield sealer, I noticed you used two materials; an orange one over some sections and a black one over the entire board? What materials were these and to what purpose were they applied?

We're glad you found the video interesting and thanks for asking questions! Sometimes we forget that people may not be as familiar with the process as we are. The added GFRC underneath was to add strength - people step on these sometimes, so a little extra insurance doesn't hurt. The orange and black material is and "slurry" - basically the same mixture as the GFRC but with less, or no sand, no fiber and integral color. By hand packing these boards with a stiff GFRC mix we left voids so we could come back and fill with different colors. It's purely a design thing but also served to leave a smooth surface. Had we wanted a more uniform finish from the start, we could have sprayed or poured a face coat onto the form and not used Slurry fill at all.
