There is extensive evidence in the Vedas to support the concept of re-birth or transmigration of the soul. Belief in reincarnation is not just found in Hinduism, but also in many societies and religions around the world. In the commentary section of this video, Watch Swami Mukundananda elaborate on this concept of rebirth from Vedas and various other Hindu scriptures.
-----------------------------------------------------
Lord Krishna explains that in one lifetime itself, we change bodies from childhood to youth to maturity and then to old age. In fact, modern science informs us that cells within the body undergo regeneration-old cells die away and new ones take their place. It is estimated that within seven years, practically all the cells of the body change. Despite the continual change of the body, we perceive that we are the same person. That is because we are not the material body, but the spiritual soul seated within. The soul is eternal.
In this verse, the word deha means “the body” and dehi means “possessor of the body,” or the soul. Shree Krishna draws Arjun’s attention to the fact that, since the body is constantly changing, in one lifetime itself, the soul passes through many bodies. Similarly, at the time of death, it passes into another body. Actually, what we term as “death” in worldly parlance is merely the soul discarding its old dysfunctional body, and what we call “birth” is the soul taking on a new body elsewhere. This is the concept of re-birth in Hinduism by Shree Krishna.
-----------------------------------------------------

तथा देहान्तरप्राप्तिर्धीरस्तत्र न मुह्यति || 13||
dehino ’smin yatha dehe kaumaram yauvanam jara
tatha dehantara-praptir dhiras tatra na muhyati
Bhagawad Gita Chapter 2 Shloka 13: Just as the embodied soul continuously passes from childhood to youth to old age, similarly, at the time of death, the soul passes into another body. The wise are not deluded by this.

    That is an interesting question Sunayana ji, according to my understand time extends to infinity both in the past and the future, there is no question of the first birth. The process of birth and death did not start one day - they are going for ever in an endless loop. We existed even before the event of creation which leads to the concept of time. The knowledge and tendencies to act according to the body given is with the soul (karan sharir) before it takes a bodily form.

    Thank you for trying to explain the phenomenon of reincarnation. Among the various aspects of discussion your arguments may create confusion.However, that is the nature of this subject. If we either become Gunatit(GOD) or at least have very high predominance of Sattava, then reincarnation may be well accepted. Under the influence or Tamas as most of our life passes, the idea of reincarnation will always be clouded. And yes there is one more scientific proof of reincarnation and that is the case study of memories from previous life. Psychiatrists/psychologist have documented many cases were this connection is proved. Namaste!🕉🙏

  • @HOLYBHAGAVADGITA

    @HOLYBHAGAVADGITA

    3 жыл бұрын

    Radhey Radhey! Thank you for bringing up an interesting question. If we ask you what you ate yesterday you would be able to tell immediately. But if we asked what you ate same day last year or 10 years ago you will not remember it. It doesn't mean that if we don't remember an event it never happened. When birth occurs, it is a very painful process and most of our memory is wiped off. And as we grow, within the first couple of years, the remaining past life impressions are also wiped off. But there have been personalities in our history who remembered some of their past lives, like Dhritarashtra remembered 3 of his past lives. There are also some Buddhist monks who remember their past lives. But there is no need to remember ones past life as we cannot change it now. If we remembered our past life we would be needlessly worried about what happened to our relatives and friends from the past life and will not be able to perform our duties in the present life. The past life was a role we played, we have now moved on to play a new part. Our actions here will determine our future trajectory. No matter what happened in the past we are brought to the human form of life now and our focus should be here. Hope this helps!

    Reincarnation is a flawed theory.

  • @adrianfcm
    @adrianfcm7 күн бұрын

    Some of the errors in this talk: (a) When Jesus spoke about John being Elijah, there is no reference to reincarnation. The belief was that Elijah did not die but was taken directly to heaven, and that he would return. Reincarnation means DEATH and rebirth, but that did not take place in the case of Elijah. (b) to say that John is Elijah is more a case of "John represents Elijah / fulfils the prophecy of Elijah" not a case of John is a reincarnation of Elijah. (c) The speaker refers to a book called "Wisdom of Solomon" in the written commentary and "Song of Solomon" in this youtube talk. The reference is to Wisdom of Solomon; there is another book called Song of Solomon which is WRONGLY quoted here. Even if we talk about Wisdom of Solomon 8:19-20, it is not talking about reincarnation but rather about WISDOM passing from soul to soul. Song of Solomon (mentioned here) is a different book and has nothing to do with the words quoted. (d) The written commentary wrongly says that the Council of Nicaea in 553 was held to discuss and condemn this doctrine...if you read up about that council you will find that this was not an issue then. Christians never believed in reincarnation. However, Origen and others believed in PRE-EXISTENCE of souls. i.e. they believed that souls existed with God and then became incarnated in human form. They don't believe that the same soul will pass from body to body, though Origen was accused of this (metempsychosis) which was a Greek belief. (e) Scientifically it is not true that all our cells die. The important cells of the BRAIN are never renewed after the age of 15, and these are the cells most closely associated with our consciousness. Hence the written text makes a false claim that all the cells are renewed in seven years. (f) About the children suckling, it is possible to believe it on the basis of instinct (pre-programmed behaviour) and we don't need to believe in reincarnation for this. If the child is born able to read or write or something, we can claim that it has the consciousness of a previous life. But not for basic biological functions such as breathing, eating, drinking, going to the toilet etc.

    Santhosh ji, souls that are born as animals now were humans in their past lives. They got demoted to the animal form of body because of their sins in the human form. Also our scriptures say we accumulate good or bad karma only in the human form, which is called the Karma Yoni, while the other forms of life - animals, plants, insects, celestial beings etc. also called as Bhog Yoni are only experiencing the good/bad karma of the human form. In these forms we don't get credit for doing good or bad actions. I am sure Swamiji will elaborate on this point in a future video.

    With regard to Bhagavad- Gita, the moot point that has missed the attention of all, all along, is that if the Sudras were to be so lowly in the Lord’s creation, how come then the Gita’s architect Krishna, His avatar, and Vyāsa, its chronicler, happen to be from the same lowly Hindu caste fold. Moreover, is it not absurd to suggest that either or both of them had deprecated the station of their own varna (caste) on their own in their very own Gita? The methodical codification of 110 interpolations carried out here, for the first time ever, puts the true character of Gita in proper perspective. Identified here are hundred and ten slokas of deviant nature and or of partisan character, the source of so much misunderstanding about this book extraordinary, in certain sections of the Hindu fold. Thus, in the long run, exposing and expunging these mischievous insertions is bound to bring in new readers from these quarters to this over two millennia old classic besides altering the misconceptions of the existing adherents. In this modern rendition, the beauty of the Sanskrit slokas is reflected in the rhythmic flow of the English verses of poetic proportions even as the attendant philosophy of the song that is the Gita is captured in contemporary idiom for easy comprehension. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aKp6t5VmfKeambA.html

    Why is animal sacrifice prescribed and described in the scriptures if we are to be vegetarians and killing is bad karma. If we offer to God it’s okay? Makes no sense to me.

    There is no concrete proof that there is no life after death either. In such a scenario logic should suffice.

    Vedas seems to be complied by man just like any other book. Most religions show a chain of succession from God to 1st man etc. No one knows first man. Written language was only a certain time period before which there is no written language or communication. Lot’s of magical thinking and assumptions and blind faith is here. We are not changing bodies actually. The body is evolving as the soul is evolving - we don’t say we are changing the soul. Self is an illusion that is created just like the image of reality is created by the brain - similar to how a camera can project reality on a screen.
