It's sometimes used as a term of endearment in certain contexts, but most of the time it's not. Like if you go up to someone and call them a cunt they're not going to think you're trying to be polite to them, you'll most likely start a fight. The only time it's used as a term of endearment is with certain words placed before it, like if you called a guy a "sick cunt" that would be a way of saying he's a cool guy, or like "funny cunt" for a funny guy.

When I went to Australia, their Burger King was called Hungry Jacks. They didn't call it "gas" when you fill up your car's tank, they call it petrol. They call coffee a "cuppa." They don't seem to say grocery store, they call it "the shops" and even though they have Dominos pizza there, they put all this healthy stuff on it, it's unrecognizable as a western pizza. And some of their products have funny names. I saw this can that you sprayed into a weed whacker (they called it a whipper snipper) called 'Start Ya Bastard' that was the actual name of the product.

@@beardymcbeardface69 I remember being offered a cuppa of coffee with some dark bitter stuff called Vegemite spread on toast. And the beer I drank was called XXXX Gold, and boy do they charge a lot for beer and cigarettes over there. Also, the cigarettes had gross scary medical images of lung cancer and stuff on the packs to try and deter the consumer from smoking. Even though I'm a Florida man, I got so sunburnt, I've never felt heat so oppressive as that.

Australian here, alot of these slang words are dependent on social situations, for example if you were to meet your bosses wife/baby, you're probably not going to say "oh fuck me dead that's a cute baby" like Conan just said, it would come off as pretty rude even for Aussies, but amongst close friends you would definately hear people saying "fuck me dead" either in amazement or when something has gone wrong.

13:38 Nope. There are 3.5 million registered firearms in the hands of the Australian public, for a nation of only 26 million people. We do have strict gun _control_ laws, but that does not mean we don't have guns. We are limited in the types of guns we can have and their capacities. We are also limited by law in how we are allowed to store our guns and ammo. Guns must be registered, gun owners must be licensed and licensing is on a needs basis. If you wanted to buy a semi-auto rifle like an AR-15, you would have to *_need_* such a gun, as a professional pest controller for example. If you wanted to hunt recreationally, you could get licensed for that and then qualify to own and use a bolt-action rifle or a shotgun, depending on the type of hunting you want to do. Competitive target shooting is another way to get licensed.
