DUDE! I live maybe 30 minutes from Benton Kentucky and I'm sitting there listening to this guy thinking "no guys, this guy is real there are about a thousand of this guy floating around my area" AND THEN LO AND BEHOLD! This guy comes in and says he's from Benton Kentucky... I can tell you this guy is genuine and probably the nicest guy you would ever meet in your life.. I really really enjoyed this.. I started this video at a medium and now I'm feeling like I'm going a mile a minute... CONAN BRING BACK DOING CENTRAL TIME NEW YEARS EVE!

I grew up in Frankfort Kentucky and we had several exchange students in my High School. They enjoyed themselves so much that some even returned back to Kentucky for work and marriage. Kentucky truly is the heart of America.

I believe you bud. I spent this past summer in Danville Kentucky working as a travel nurse and these were THE NICEST people I've ever met in my entire life. I mean just good, salt-of- the-Earth people. I had perfect strangers offering to help me with the littlest of things. I plan to go back next summer to get in a little more fine Kentucky living.

This actually turned out to be very wholesome 🤣

I LOVE how Conan is pleasantly surprised with Arnold's witty banter back like my fav is "you want the original recipe or the extra crispy." PLEASE HAVE ARNOLD BACK ON!! You two are hilarious!

This reminds me of the times Conan would discover random people and keep having them on the show, like Wing Pang near the end of the Late Night era. This is like a new incarnation of that concept, just a podcast version.

So thankful to Arnold for asking a relatable question about comedy. Loved hearing Conan’s sincere answer, as a comic genius.

Arnold has a lovely voice. They ended up having a surprisingly heartfelt conversation!

We want more Arnold and Conan. I was shocked he was a real person, too, Conan. Sona and Matt just havent been through the dirty streets of Boston like you have, ol' pal. One of the funniest podcasts ever though, highly entertaining. You're doing good ol' boy, see!

As a Kentuckian, I can confirm Arnold is legit. There are a lot of Smiths in Benton, KY (between 4 and 5 percent of the people in the area are named "Smith") and there are a ton of small ponds.

One of the best guests Conan has ever had! They should call him every few years now.

So, Conan is from Boston, two meters tall, irish, red-haired and O'Brien and he's suspicious of a guy for being too archetypically... archetypicial.

I was born in southern Indiana and left there so long ago I have no connection to it anymore, but dammit if Mr. Arnold Smith just brings a smile to my face. I believe this guy is real, it just feels so authentic. Some of the best people you'll ever know are from places like Benton, Kentucky.

There were a couple of points where this conversation got pretty real, like when Arnold was talking about offending people or losing control of "it". I wish Conan had dug into that a little bit, but the whole event seemed like it was rushed. Here was this guy with a naive power, and he's looking for guidance. That would have been a really good conversation.

It's funny that Conan can have Jack McBrayer on recently and still think southern people don't exist lol.

When i heard this last week, I didn't think the guy talked that different - then this week i know why - he's about 20 miles down the road from me. Gosh i guess we do sound country. 🤣

I live 10 miles from Benton, KY. Trust me, Arnold is a legit Kentuckian.

This is where Conan is at his best. Interacting with ordinary people he knows nothing about. The show could just be random people the podcast finds that Conan periodically checks in on. Way more interesting than hearing an entertainer promoting their latest project all of the time.

Ok at first I thought the voicemail was Nick Offerman doing a silly country accent for Conan. But I was definitely mistaken! You can tell right off the bat that the gentleman is one of a kind! He could probably have his own show! The Arnold show right from Kentucky! That was very entertaining to listen to! 👍👍👍

I admit I thought he was doing a character, also. I saw the previous clip, and was like “naw….” for the same reasons Conan had. But, Arnold seems like a sweet genuine guy. Good on him!

Someone needs to go through all of the episodes of both the shows and the podcast and collect all of the stories Conan has made up about his life, like in this one, I'm paraphrasing: "there was a time, where I roamed the streets barefoot in Kentucky". He's thought up so many by now and they're all ridiculous 😆😂 I love it.

Could you imagine the gold it would be if Arnold and Jordan visited a working farm, possibly a co-op?

There's something magical about extracting comedy from natural conversation and interaction. Comedy is just an underlying part of humanity and socializing that really helps offset the cynicism and sadness tht comes with the negative aspects of humanity.

I waited until the end to find out Arnold was a plant hired by Gourley and Sona to humble Conan... hilarious interview.

A lot of my family in MO sound similar to Arnold. I love that they captioned Arnold.

Loved this. Grew up in a small farm town in CT, and a legitimate reason for being late to something was you got stuck driving behind a tractor 😅
