Hi, I know this is a 5 year old video however I have just bought the Meaco 20L with a 6 litre tank. I have a 3 bedroom house (3rd bedroom is a loft room with full reg stairs up etc so high ceiling) we have really bad condensation on all windows and damp in most room if left untreated with mold spray etc. Do you think this machine will be suitable.for the Job?? Thank you

It will be fine. Just place it somewhere central and leave all of the internal doors open so that the damp air can migrate to the dehumidifier. Think about where the condensation comes from and how you can reduce it. Make sure that your extractor fans are clean and being used and leave windows open after showering and cooking. Use the dehumidifier to dry your laundry if you are not using a tumble dryer.

@@MeacoUK had the machine on for roughly 15 hours straight now and has already brought the humidity down fro. 76 to the 50 mark on high setting and filled the 6 litre tanks near enough. Windows bone dry this morning upstairs. Very happy with it so far. Thank you for the reply and the tips

Hi I have a box bedroom (small bedroom) and every winter my room gets extremely damp to the point where water drops form on the ceiling above my bed & drop onto me when I’m sleeping, last year my ceiling was covered in mould due to the damp but we wiped it all off and repainted my room with bathroom mould paint and the mould hasn’t came back however the damp condensation & water drops have so I’m looking at buying a dehumidifier, i’m focused on the Meaco 12L one but I’m unsure, I have a room thermometer in my room that I a bought for £5 off Amazon and it states my room humidity is mainly between 80-100% and I haven’t seen the temperature state below 12° so the question I have is just which dehumidifier do you think I should buy given that information, a desiccant one or compressor? I’d really appreciate your help being an expert and I really hope this gets to you 🫶

You certainly need a dehumidifier. Either buy a Meaco Arete 10L or ABC 10L if you want something that is really cheap to run, or buy a Meaco DD8L Junior if you want something that will dry the air and add some warmth to the room as well. Whatever you do, act quickly and get this sorted before it effects your health. Good luck. Chris

@@chrismichaelmeacouklimited4004 just seen this now, thank you so much for replying I think I’ll go for the Meaco ABC 12L as in my eyes it’s the best value for money (more space than the 10L & said to be the quietest) I see it as an upgraded version of the ABC 10L so I’m thinking I’ll most likely get that one, would you agree?

So use a compressor one in the summer and desiccant in the winter?

  • @chrismichaelmeacouklimited4004

That depends on where in the house you want to use the dehumidifier, for a lot of people the temperature in the house will still be warm in the winter because of thir central heating, so they will use compressor all year round. If you have an unheated space or a space that could do with some extra warmth in winter, then desiccant will work for you in the colder months.

Are small dehumifers ideal for a small bedroom or should I use medium or large dehumifer also do dehumifers work and are they worth using also are dehumifers with crystals at top of dehumifer ok to use and are they effective in stopping visible mold

Tara - try to control the whole house and think about where the water is coming from and if you can reduce the amount of water being released into the air. You don't really want to put a dehumidifier into the bedroom so having it on the landing or hallway is a more practical solution and if the home is three bedrooms or less then I would recommend one of the MeacoDry ABC 12l machines or a 20L Low Energy machine for larger properties. Chemical dehumidifiers with the cystals are only useful for draws and cupboards and make sure that you keep them away from children and pets.

@@joeslacker1020 If you have power then a DD8L series dehumidifier will sort things out, if you use one then sealing the door and window properly should go hand in hand. If power for the dehumidifier is not possible then increasing ventilation on a regular basis throughout the day (after cooking and showering and then every few hours) plus have an internal temperature that is higher than outside is your next best choice.

@@MeacoUK Will an air conditioner help? I have an ac in here, and I choose to use the fan to cool off when I exercise, and also use the fan (in winter months) to create noise to help me sleep as well. I cleaned it out it had a bunch of mold in it. It does seem to have some fuzzy filter built into it, and the one that was through the vent part of it on the bottom is gone. Is there a special type of filter to help circulate the air?

The whole video is about dehumidifying, there is nothing here about using a humidifier. Perhaps you have got confused with a different video.
