If you want to check out a little bit same type of collab, I'd recommend listening to Emma Ruth Rundle & Thou collab album "May Our Chambers Be Full". I picked that one number 4 on my top 20 albums of 2020. The standout song on the album is The Valley.

@@sludgeon Yes, The Valley immediately came to mind as I was listening to this. It's similar in the sense that it combines delicate female vocals with heavy guitars, plus Emma Ruth Rundle and Chelsea Wolfe are on the same record label (Sargent House). Would love to hear Brian's analysis on it!

The main growler without the guitar was Jacob Bannon and he's the lead singer of Converge. The other guy is Stephen Brodsky from Cave In.

I can see why you would be iffy on it. Still a fun reaction and always enjoy you breaking stuff down! Fun fact though, the guitarist for Converge, Kurt Ballou, did the production/mixing on this

Dude, props to him. The production is great on this one and he deserves the praise for it.

You should check out "Nemesis" by Arch Enemy (with Angela), the band's live performance in Tokyo 2008 is still one of my favorites. The music video is pretty great, too. Miss the days of Angela.

Yeah, I think you nailed my reaction in saying that this is a song completely built on texture and atmosphere and that it only kinda works for me. While I can appreciate the atmosphere itself I don't think there's anything else here I found really interesting or original or extremely well done.

I agree with this statement. The album itself wasn’t bad but something was missing that really gave it something to standout. I did enjoy it, just not something AMAZING.

I think it's a shame that this group has so many cool influences and styles and this is my introduction to that project. I don't know what the rest of the album holds but my experience here was sort of like taking your favorite individual foods, putting them on a sandwich, expecting greatness from the combination, and then it being lesser than those individual items. I'll have to check out the whole album one of these days but Christopher mentioning that it doesn't really have anything that stands out is disheartening.

The Guitarist Kurt Ballou is the producer of all convergebrecordds, with considerable collaborations in the process. He produces most of therecords d, or at least the select records he wants to work on, for the label Drathwish Records. Dearhwish is also owned and operated by the vocalist of Converge, Jacob Bannon. Also, Don't forget about Cave In. They are sonic legends In their own right. ALSO, YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO REVIEW MUTOID MAN!!

Hey, Brian, what's the link to the special request patron. I've got a fistful of heavy deep cuts that I wanna fire cross your bow. Some will make your heart take flight, some may challenge your sonic pallette in directions unbeknownst prior. Either way, I wanna suggest a few choice jams, and need the link for the special request patreon. Hope you, and all involved in this channel's community are making it thru this agitator called Life shortly. Cheers!

Been a hardcore Converge fan for 20 years now and to be honest I did not enjoy Blood Moon. Falls short to me compared to their discography, It shouldn't even be labeled as "converge" its so different. I don't like the slower/sludge feel to it even tho I do enjoy atmospheric albums like anything from 'Burzum.' It feels over-produced and that friends got together during a pandemic/unable to tour to record an album. Supergroup projects always kind of feel forced in a way.. Rolo Tomassi - new album has 3 singles released now from it. If you check out any of the 3 I feel like "Drip" would be your best bet for the channel. New album comes out next month.

I've been a Converge fan for around 20 years as well. Blood Moon is certainly different. I think it works as an album/project, but needs to be considered separate from the rest of the Converge discography. Personally I think they should have used a different name, but I suppose they had their reasons. I'd be interested in seeing him look at the upcoming Rolo Tomassi album too.

I'm hoping to stay away from the new Rolo singles in order to experience the album in full without any knowledge. You're not the first to request Drip though so maybe I'll just have to cave and peak at just one song :)

The ONLY part of this song that didn't really sit well with me is the first guy who sang, his harsh vocals later on. I wasn't a fan, but the mood and atmosphere here is just fantastic. I love the bended notes on the heavy distant sounding guitar, just the whole oppressive wall of sound. Pretty wonderful to me.
