I hope you enjoy this video. During 10 days off work in April i set myself a task of building 10 Japanese Aircraft in 10 days, LOL it is now mid June so obviously i failed miserably, but they are now complete and hear for you to look at. I will be releasing the fruits of my efforts as completed build videos over the next 5 days, 2 per day, some came out OK some didn't LOL, but i had fun during the series. incidentally there is a link to my playlist for Land of the Rising Sun Week above this blurb where you can view the "Whats in the Box" and "Build Updates" for these kits as they were built.
I have a model collection/stash of 300-400 1/72 and 1/35 kits which i have been building badly for the amusement or to the annoyance of my fellow KZreadrs, As my competence levels increase i am looking to take on different and more complex models. As a novice modeller my intention is to learn the various assembly techniques and skills required, especially that of painting, so as i can produce half decent looking models, I concluded the best way to do this is to start with something simple, personally i think the best way to learn a new skill is repetition; try, try and try again. Hopefully by completing these 33 Spitfire models i will learn a few tricks of the trade. Whilst doing this I am also hoping to improve my VERY basic KZread skills, so far just uploading these videos has resulted in tantrums of titanic proportions, yes unfortunately i am also techno-phobic.
Follow me on my novice modelling journey whilst I try desperately to overcome my midlife crisis. Questions and suggestions always welcome. Please like and subscribe and follow me on my ride!

I always have back up beer to avoid spillage tear-age. actually have adequate cabinet space but will require more glass shelves in them LOL.

Hi Andy. Yet again another nice looking aircraft , yeah I think that the Japanese had a spy at the P47 factory don,t you ? I know that I have spoken before about 'silvering' and thats why you need to get a rattle can of gloss varnish. Spray then apply your decals, result ? No silvering. Then spray a coat of matt varnish over that to protect them. But you have done a good job.

Oh yes definitely this does resembles a bubbletop Thunderbolt. no worries Brian i am not ignoring you or Jeremy, i have 3x Mk22 Spitfires ready to decal, they are going to be my test-beds for varnishing, as i intend to do one matt, one gloss and one satin, they are all painted in the same colours so as i can see what the difference will be, perhaps next week or the week after, then i will no doubt be varnishing as standard procedure on future builds and may then revisit these models and do them them also.

Running the Gekko and Shinden close Andy! The Faux Thunderbolt as it's now officially known! looks damn good mate. I like the paint job, and nose cones were painted all colours so it's all good. I must admit, I struggle on leading edges to get a decent line of paint but then again, leading edges would get chipped and marked so I don't think it's that critical. As you say, it's done, put it on the shelf, move on! Proper job mate 👌👊

thanks Bobby. I think a lot of these things like leading edges are about time and effort, i am quite happy to put the time and effort in but recently i have found myself with 20 kits to finish off and quite frankly that is not the way to go as i have constantly found myself glancing at them and going "FFS not today" another lesson learned LOL.
