I really hope they don’t add crazy colors as time goes on. Nothing against colors like pink, bright green and etc, but that would be far left in my opinion and unnecessary. So far it looks good though. Edit: When I said “far left” I do not mean in a political sense, More so on the “Out there” or “outlandish” which looking back at it might’ve been a better choice of words.

Kaaris Zongo Le Dozo yikes, I mean I’m keeping my expectations low, but I remember during alpha I saw bright green and yellow with white for a tank unless that was a glitch in my opinion that was out of place too, very jarring. As someone else mentioned the colors weren’t bright, I haven’t seen it but if it is pink at least have it blend well with everything else. Won’t hold my breath, but will stay hopeful.

This is what I was thinking they would go for originally. Perhaps offer customisation to the patterns/condition of the uniforms but the colour will only change according to the theatre.

I don't know anything about a wake island remake or the Japanese being included in post-launch content. If I did know something I simply wouldn't reply to this comment :) I do know that in the AMAA one dev said they didn't want to work on another Wake Island remake, but i honestly can't imagine Dice not capitalizing on a Wake Island map in a WW2 game. So basically they better do it :)

... I kinda want a modern Battlefield with this level of customization now.

Seeing women in these uniforms and helmets is so unnatural and totally kills immersion.

Can you customize your soldier appearance during a game? Or would you need to back out to the main menu to do so?

Dice has made so many great changes over the past few months to the game, yet there are people still hating on it without even realizing how different the game is now. Yes, I know we were all pissed off from the reveal trailer, but DICE has learned from that, the trailers and game have gotten better. I don't care whatever the setting is or how the game plays, I play Battlefield because I love Battlefield.

SweatyJew Sort of. 1. Very limited ammo - Even though they are tweaking it for some weapons only, I absolutely hated this mechanic. I spent more time worrying about where to find the next ammo station instead of focusing on the objectives, because of course, you can't rely on teammates to keep you consistently supplied. I am a PTFO player, always in every game of the series, yet I felt BFV punished me for trying to complete the objectives. I ran out of ammo and had to retreat to get more ammo. This led to the objective that I was guarding to be captured. That was as infantry, but it also happened to me as a tank user. Retreated, as an attacker, because I ran out of shells and bullets -> Objective was not taken. This mechanic ruins any momentum for PTFO players. 2. Unnecessary animations - My biggest complaint is the revive animations. Medic is my favorite and most used class but BFV ruined it by adding unnecessary animations that take so long. FPS games are hectic and any wasted second may cost you dearly. In the beta, I've been killed so many times trying to revive teammates. BFV punished me for trying to be a good teammate. 3. Unenjoyable gameplay - The most subjective complaint that I have. BFV's gameplay feels like a COD run n gun style instead of a tactical approach the series was known for. I understand if you disagree with this, I won’t mind. 4. Less important classes - With the ammo and health stations implemented, most players are opting for the assault and recon class since they are ok with manually getting their ammo/health. This leads to a shortage of medics and even more support players because even the medic can give ammo now. Now this loops back to complaint #1. 5. Less content - I get it, they decided to go with releasing WW2’s timeline in order. But come on, paying $60 for a few maps and two factions about a *World War* ? Come on, at least have more variety at launch. Would’ve it been really hard to implement maps of the first few battles in each theater at launch?

I feel allot of the customization should be restricted to certain classes such as the “Hawk and Dove” should only be on pilot or the “Die Sturm Jager” should only be on squad leaders if they choose. Along with other outfits in the game.

How do you see all of these items? I don't see so many of these in my game...

Not wanting to be sexist or anything but women characters should be locked to certain factions. Sure there were "women soldiers" but its sure as hell the Nazis didn't have them. Put the women in Russia or as a French resistance force (which is more accurate than them being in a regular standing army). At least compromises can be achieved and everyone is happy.

I just really want to know why it's specifically females that should be handled in a historically accurate and realistic manner in this game, when literally nothing else is. Why are people so tunnel visioned on to females being historically inaccurate in this game, when the rest of the game is JUST as full of inaccuracy in every facet?

To be honest, I was expecting the character customization itself to be more complex. Of the 20ish characters for the British Faction, only a few of them would look authentic and cool in a British uniform for reasons far too oblivious for me to point out.

@@FortyFM4 exactly, also I am one of those weirdos who likes playing as characters that look like them (explains why I like playing as Jack Morrison in overwatch) and depending on what faction you're on you should have the option to do that. Also same time since they are doing the Halo reach thing of cosmetics being faction specific it won't be super rediculous, and if you want unauthentic customization for a WW2 game look at cod WW2 and it's zombie Slayer armor. I guarantee you battlefield V will never get that rediculous.

@@5hane9ro If you're going for a PC setup, go AMD. Intel is struggling hard ATM. But you're not really missing much either right now-Like I said, Early Access is really fucking rough around the edges, game easily eats 16 GB of RAM.

Not having Class specific Items seems like a huuuuge mistake. Especially now spotting isn't a thing (a good change) it's going to be very hard to distinguish what you're up against until you start getting shot by them. THAT is the big issue with this customisation, not the teddy bears and shit.

But like, honestly, knowing what class it is isn't very useful for seeing what guns an enemy will have, that support may be rocking an LMG, HMG or may be running a shotgun, that assault may be running an assault rifle or a scoped semi auto, if you're close enough to see the enemy's look you should be close enough to notice what they're holding

LOVE the cosmetic choices. Can't wait to get into this.

I really like what planetside 2 does where it allows you to see who killed you. I have had a few times where I've gotten killed from almost out of the blue but they were rolling directive weapon and highly respectable camos and helms. I can inspect their gear and often just know when I've been out played by a higher skilled player.

Tbh they look terrible. The German uniforms don’t even look like wool or hbt which they were made from. Look like modern clothing. Tbh I feel like in the future it’ll become like cod “ww2” where you can make your solider look like the grim reaper dressed in a blue and gold steampunk trenchcoat. Like with the gas mask with he British flag on. Already looks ridiculous. Honestly don’t see what’s wrong with having customisation in an historic way and not...this

People saying costumisation doesn’t affect gameplay never played a Battlefield before, I guess. We were able to instantly know what class we were facing while in a gunfight and we could act accordingly. Was it a sniper? We could go aggressive and kill him easily, an assault/engineer? If in a tank, better to avoid getting too close to him or kill him ASAP, same goes for support with their explosives. And those are just a few interactions you could take based on what class you were facing. Now it is just IMPOSSIBLE to understand that! While I’m in a tank if a medic gets close I could not care less, but I would care A LOT if it was an assault, now it seems like everyone can be a possible threat of every kind and it is just confusing AS HELL. This customisation system is garbage.

What you just said is exactly the reason they removed spotting and such. It's too much of a handicap. You can still identify players by the icons that appear above their heads when they are nearby, not to mention the weapons they are holding. An assault whips out a rocket launcher or explosives you will be able to tell what they are carrying. If you play battlefield long enough you get used to the animations for certain tools. Not to mention really you shouldn't be letting anyone close to your tank as anyone can spawn on them and blow you up and also the second an assault fires a rocket or what not it pretty much gives them away so they shouldn't be too hard to deal with. Just practice. It isn't impossible to learn. Really though you are a tank, you should be ripping up anyone near you not nitpicking unless they are an immediate threat most people that will engage you as a tank are assaults and supports so really just attack the people going for you. A smart medic/sniper isn't going to charge you and if they do don't be a chicken and bail out like they expect you to do. It's better to blow up anyways than to risk losing your tank to an enemy. So i think you are kinda overexaggerating with the impossible part.

Identifying classes in past games was solely for consideration of class effective engagment distances. Because in past games, smgs could barely be tap fired accurately up to 100m in a direct gunfight. That's completely pointless in this game, as there's no rbd, and suppression has absolutely no affect on your aim, resulting in a gunplay where the shortest range primary weapons, SMGs, can now effectively kill people well over 100-150m away with precision accuracy, a gunplay where recoil control is the sole aspect. If you see a guy looking at you in BF5 - kill them. There's no reason, at all, to stand there and wonder if you should/can engage them based on what class they're using like you did in past games. In BF5, if you can't take someone out regardless of class or range (outside of extreme long range), it's because of user error.

Im very confused a lot of these uniforms aren’t in my uniform section is this showcasing a special version of the game or have some uniforms not been added yet?

Where are the 20 weekly air lift items? I had items under "shipments" and then they literally vanished! Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

All they need to do is keep women and minorities in the battle royal mode. No one would seriously complain about that. Just keep the multiplayer accurate.

@Young Thinker - iuvenis animo I'm pretty sure Muslims and Sikhs were a lot less common in the German army, I only know a few were in the SS, whereas whole divisions of African, Malaysian and Indian fought for Britain as they controlled most of Africa and India/Malaysia were both Integrated puppets, but Germany controlled no colonies, so that's probably their logic there, why there are females no clue, but to me it doesn't matter the slightest just their design choice

how do you unlock the basic outfit colors and such play story mode ?

I’m impressed by how much customization there is while still sticking to the time period

You know as someone who actually has a prosthetic hand, I really didn't mind it being in the game. I don't quite understand why people got so upset about it. A little extra on the side in games for people like myself never hurt anyone. It's not like I'm particularly bad, I wouldn't say I'm great but I can keep pace with most people I play with or against. I did have an issue with a whole lot of other things (British soldier with a Katana? Yeah there was a british soldier who used a sword and bow, But uh. He sure as hell didn't use a katana.). It's Battlefield. It's understood it's not a 100% realistic simulator game. Otherwise it'd sell itself as a "sim". It's not Arma or Tarkov, and I'm glad it's not. I like it the way it is. Goofy and weird, buggy as hell at times, with balance that could be called laughable. But I guess when it comes to something a lot of people don't have experience with it's too much? Takes all kinds, I guess. Can't do anything about it now. Human minds respond more negatively to criticism, so all the people whining about it or spewing hate about it (Not everyone, Mind you. I did see some good points, Like if all you could see was the hand it might make it difficult to tell if it was a person. Something along those lines.) were heard more clearly than those people who were okay with it or supported it. Such is life. :P

A friend of mine who's a UK military officer, and has lost a few fingers, was pretty furious at the inclusion of the prosthetics, originally. He thought it disrespectful of the fact, that during WW2, a great deal of people were crippled, and that precluded them not only from serving in the military (Newsflash: Metal hands back then were fecking awful), it kinda kicked them out of society period.

@@Cross31415 The prosthetic in the trailer was actually era accurate, i have seen them in person ! But either way its not something that would ever influence how i enjoy a game anyways. Just not something that matters too much to me.

British and Americans often took Katanas as war loot from dead or surrendered Japanese officers. Sure its unlikely you would see them actually wielding it, however, it is not so absurd as people are making it out to be.

I'm actually surprised. looking good i gotta admit. this is what everyone wanted, atleast regarding to the gender controversy

Pretty disappointed by some of the comments. It seems that none of the critics of the game have even made it this far in the video updates. Make no mistake, toned down does not mean they have "learned their lesson." Its damage control plain and simple. And even then you can still play as a "woman of color" in these factions for as inaccurate as that is. If you're buying this game then I'd have to agree with others here that you are part of the problem. Because any success will be seen as a green light to foist more of their politics into gaming. There should be NONE.

German Desert camo works in snowy environments too, so you don't have to worry too much about that

Doesn't seem to be that many options in all honesty... sort of overwhelming. Will it be profitable enough for them to sustain a live service/replace premium and loot boxes?

What I don't understand is why they don't make it possible to link your camo to the map you're playing on. Have a Sub-Menu for customisation in which you can set your camo for the specific maps.

not sure if its just me but there are a lot less cosmetics in the game currently? Or will they first be available at release

I honestly don't care about realism (to a degree) in multiplayer IT'S A VIDEOGAME so the idea of American & Russian soldiers fighting side by side against Germans and Japanese fighting side by side is a pretty cool idea to me!! Keep the campaign as realistic as possible when it comes to cosmetics and aesthetics. But multiplayer, it's okay to kinda loosen the chains a little bit 👍🏻

Someone Relevant but people like me buy a ww2 game to have some authenticity. Fighting as a British solider or a German in the Pacific would just be weird and is a major turn off for me. If they want to add it fine but what needs to come with it is an option to switch off all un authentic choices other player have made. Meaning the only uniforms I see are the ones from the campaigns on the right soldiers. No silly looking gas mask with a British flag on it or ammo pouches on the legs and wherever else. Like you said it is a video game but we buy a ww2 video game for ww2. Just like I’d buy a zombie game for zombies. It wouldn’t feel like a zombie game if all the zombies didn’t look like rotting corpses and they used tools like knifes or even guns, just like having unthentic uniforms in a ww2 game doesn’t make the game feel like ww2

Then why set it in WW2? And to be clear, why set it in "actual" WW2 as opposed to a fictional WW2 (like Wolfenstein or whatnot)? If you're going to abandon your setting then choose or create a different one that fits with your gameplay vision? Personally for me BF games have always appealed to me because they care more about presentation than your typical shooter. It's why frostbite destruction exists tbh, sure the gameplay with it is a little interesting but it's there more for the dramatic effect of blowing giant holes in walls or driving through a building with a tank, it's why they created "levelolution" for BF4. To give a MP game more of a "SP scripted feel" except it's actually dynamic. That's what BF moments have been mostly. Cool, awesome moments that wouldn't be out of place in a CoD campaign except they aren't scripted and just happen.

These cosmetics totally ruin the immersion, you can't tell the difference between different army's, nor can you tell between different classes... what's even the point to have a WW2 game than ??? I'm really disappointed.

"can't tell the difference between different army's" - you kinda blind? German and British in-game have pretty different color codes. And yes i can tell different between guy with assault rifle and rocket launcher at his back and guy with MG34, even if they choose same uniform.

How many weeks or months in before they decide they don't have enough money and start selling pink Mohawks and robot arms to the fortnite kids for $5 a pop? Calling it a robot arm is ignorant.. It was a prosthetic. They existed then. They exist now. It's not crazy to think a resistance fighter might use one.

If I understand this right The camos on the German side are like the tides of war episode „early ww2“ So I think with tides of war will come some camos like they where at late ww2

I'm confused. Are none of these in the game yet? The EA access build doesn't seem to have most of these options.

Where do you get these cosmetics in the Launch version?

I’m still pissed off about this sjw bullshit. Obviously women being in the game is not a big deal but they just really shouldn’t be in it. Yes there are people who would want to be female but it’s honestly a novelty that will not last. And for some they really enjoy sitting back and trying to be immersed in this WW2 world, yeah it’s not too realistic but it’s somewhat believable, female soldiers during WW2 in my perspective takes a lot out of that. And frankly my biggest gripe is not that there are women soldiers in the game but the fact the sjw progressiveness and influence is so heavy on the game that playing it with that thought in my mind would just bug me

blitzwaffe my comment is specifically directed towards bfv, I actually think for modern or future shooters that the inclusion of female soldiers is great, I’m all for it. And is having female soldiers in the bfv a major game breaking bug, mechanic, or system? No, it isn’t. This is why I said it was not a big deal. And does the game take place in WW2, yes it does. Were there females soldiers on the front line fighting during WW2? No there weren’t. Thus I said there shouldn’t be female soldiers because again bfv is a WW2 shooter. If the entire campaign was a story on a women apart of the French resistance fighting off the nazis, I would think that would be awesome. If bfv added a French resistance faction to multiplayer and added female soldiers to that I would say that’s super.

Mr Socrates I know it is just a game. I know it is just a customisation, when the game was announced even after hearing that female soldiers were going to be apart of it, I was still going to buy it and play it. It’s just annoys me that the immersion of the game is somewhat diminished because of there being female soldiers. I doubt I will buy it now though because of all the other stuff up for grabs like insurgency sandstorm. My biggest gripe is sjw influence. Look at what happened to that KZreadr Shirrako.

Sooo women are still selectable for the US/British/Russian/German Military. Yeahhh I’ll pass this game.

You can't customize your tanker or pilots. It sometimes forces you to play as the unwanted gender as well.

I really hope some cometics remain as progression or mission only and not purchasable. That way as you said people will stand out if they have certain desired items which look awesome.

battlefield has never been a game for realism. just look at battlefield 2142. the thing that should excite people is the mechanics. the new level of destruction, the fortifying, and custimization. the gun play is battlefield which gets better every time.

The thing is, BF2142 is set in the future. As such, the narrative is futuristic and not realistic. A game set within WW2 that has disabled soldiers with prosthetics is not realistic in its setting

Or literally appearing several years before their actual introduction given the year said battle took place (ala Tiger I tanks in Rotterdam which took place in 1940) Funny how no one bitches about that.

@@PlazmaZ5 first off your first sentence makes no sense, second women weren't allowed to serve, and before you bring up the British SOE, I don't seem to recall them fighting at Operation Market Garden or literally any large scale battle

I heard that there is an option in the menu where, if you turn it on, the multiplayer players will have the standard uniforms. Everyone will have the same thing. I might be wrong though.

How about a default uniform client side filter? Can we get that?

This looks terrible. I really want to like this game but everytime I see those goofy looking customizable uniforms and female soldiers I hate it even more. And now Levelcap says it's possible that different factions are going to fight on the same map. This is just ridiculous.

Most of the cosmetics seem to check out. I think people are too used to the clone army idea in previous BF titles where character models were identical.

I’m really hyped for the Fallschirmjäger helmet, hell im hyped for the paratrooper skins for both sides. If they add the marines I’ll definitely use those skins as well

Why do I not have access to all the same cosmetics that are shown in the video

Im struggling to find anything about this but why did so many of the customization options seem like they got pulled out of the game? Like almost none of these are available. Did they pull these to put on finishing touches or changes and plan to add them later? Right now the customization is kind of really lacking.
