    You are a fucking genius. even though we are from different continents we speak the same language or should I say in the same way fast forwarding pasture rambling was a great idea. I wish I could do that real life. Straight to the point information is what I'm looking for and that's what you provided I really appreciate that. I am at a point where I do not have a lot of money but would love to build something similar to what you're doing anything you could do to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Just a thought but for us people in the US it would be a great time saver to include standard measurement along with the metric because we have no freaking idea. Regardless I so a video for the first time and seems to me I'm an instant fan keep doing what you're doing and thank you

    I’m definitely not showing you anything new, but I sure am very glad to hear you’re enjoying it. I’m hoping to do another video along the same lines as this one soon, so stay tuned for that. As for your build, that’s plenty of simple Stills out there to choose from. I’ll give you the standard answer, which is…..it depends on how much you want to spend and what you want from it. So make a wise choice as not to waste your money. I can’t say I can convert to imperial measurements, because I find those just as confusing as you do with the metric scale. Plus I can’t be arsed is another overwhelming reason. Sorry for that. Thanks for your comment 😎😎

    Apologies I'm late to the party 🥳 When you say no Tails, obviously they were compressed to keep ABV up high at 94. What would have collected if you caught the quickly tapering ABV at run end? Eg 300 ml of 90 down to 20? Just trying to work out what was theoretically left in pot. The total Yield efficiency of the still set-up as I thinking I'd do the same.

    I completely except your apology and there’s no hard feelings 😝 As for the process, and what I collect, I just do what I want to do. Meaning when I’m happy with what I’ve got, I stop. And that goes for when I’m using Pot or Bubble Plate Distilling. Keep Shining my lover 😎

    Good video mate. How long does this reflux run usually take for you?

  • @highly-spirited

    @highly-spirited

    3 жыл бұрын

    As an average, I would say a full Spirit Run (of 20 litres) would be about 5-6 hours. For a Stripping Run, that time would be halved. Add in Setting Up time, Heat Up time and Cleaning Up time, then you’re talking the best part of a day gone. So now I only tend to do half batches (12 litres) at a time, as I really don’t need to distill much alcohol. I get a Run in early and have it done by lunchtime. It’s broad as it is long, but overall, this way works better for me.

    I just finished a reflux run of a sugar wash an hour ago. I changed things up this time and used 1/2 corn syrup and the other 1/2 inverted sugar. I wanted to see if I could get a better N.S. out of it...my intention with what I collected is to make apple pie shine...I already have vodkas from grains and still have infusions on the shelf...so apple-pie it is. Love watching your vids...you make me laugh and your bubble tower is fun to watch!!

    Good job! Did it work out ok? Notice any difference or is it too early to say? After watching Jesse, from Still It, I came soooo close to starting a Sour Mash. But because I infuse pretty much everything anyway, and in my own little world, a sugar wash is more than good enough for me. But at least the birds enjoyed eating the corn. Apple Pie is defo one of my favourites to make 😋 🤤

  • @highly-spirited

    Don’t get me started on the ‘made in China’ subject! Yes, the majority of times you get what you pay for, even though many items are rebranded and sold with people none the wiser where it came from. So it would be wrong to class the majority of products are below par on just one purchase. But the company I bought this thing from, were incredibly quick to dispatch it to me and the quality is perfect IMO. In one of my other vids I did a ‘first impressions’ of it and weighed a few of the stainless steel items as they were so solid and heavy and the welds were also perfect. So far my Still has stood the test of use and abuse with no issues. Good luck with what ever you choose to buy, as I’m sure it will serve you well 😊

    Hia spirit brother I’ve done an imens amount of research in to distilling and I’ve got a pretty good idea on how it all works but can I ask what size element you use as it’s one thing I can’t get my head around. I’ve want to get a 5500w element but in the uk as you know we only use 13amp plugs but I’m pretty sure that’s not enough amps to run a 5500x element what size would you recommend as I’m stumped. Thanks for everything you do I’ve learnt a massive amount from yourself. Many thanks Shaun

    Hi there. I use a 2kw element in my 25 litre kettle and find that more than adequate. I remember going around in circles when I changed from using gas to using electric. So I ended up going small and kept it simple as possible. That way I can just plug it in and play :) I’M NO ELECTRICIAN, so please don’t take what I say here as the correct advice!!! A 5.5 is pretty big, so you must have a reason for using that size. And like you say, because of the resistance, that’s a defo ‘no go’ on our circuits. I guess it could be ‘hard wired’ into a dedicated circuit. But then that involves an electrician,cost,hassle etc.... Have you looked into using two 2.5kw elements? You might be able to run the two of them from a double socket on a 32A ring circuit. But again, I’m no expert, so please check first before doing anything.

    Hey there. I couldn’t say if it would fit, as there’s different ways to connect things together. But, if your Still has tri-clamp fittings, then it would be compatible for sure. I’ve not seen many places in the uk stocking distilling products, so your best bet might be to import what you need. Just watch the price of shipping, as that can have a sting in the tail 😬 Good luck with this very satisfying hobby 👍👍 If you’ve not had any experience with distilling, make sure you watch a load of Barley and Hops videos. George helped me soooooo much at the very beginning.

    Are you referring to things like Turbo Carbon, where it’s used in the fermenting stage? Or finings that are added after fermenting has finished? Because I don’t ever use the former, and only sometimes use the latter. Even then, clearing a Wash isn’t always really necessary. As long as most of the yeast has dropped out of suspension (and they will in time anyway) then you’re good to go imo.
