The DDJ-SB3 does NOT work with Rekordbox DJ, it is the ONLY Pioneer DJ controlled that isn’t compatible with Rekordbox. I have learned this the hard way! Posting so nobody makes my mistake.

if you pick a Numark or an Hercules beginner controller you don’t even need a mixer since it already has RCA outs

Use the stereo input on the mixer to bring in the audio from the phone/tablet/computer because as they configured it the output mix is going to be completely in mono rather than stereo.

@@drewblanche yeah always remember DJ or Band speakers were CRANKED UP at gigs, thus wear and tear is almost enevitable. Its like people in bands say---buying used speakers in mint condition is like buying a Corvette the first owner just drove to church on.

Another DJ controller you could use is the Hercules DJ mixer

So, I'm *CONSIDERING* doing DJing and I'm not sure if I want to do it but this video was SUCH a good help letting me know what to get, how to set it up, and how to cleanly conceal it behind the wall. THANK YOU! My god, you guys are god sent! I have a question: I've seen wedding setups with battery operated mics and lapel (on the shirt collar or tie) microphones for the wedding officiator. Also, I've seen subwoofers on the bottom, for a 4-speaker setup and also 2 large speakers on stands in the BACK OF THE ROOM (think of a square and a speaker is in each corner of the square). Is this something I need to be saving up for or considering? This looks like a great setup for starting, but I'm just wanting to be aware of where I need to go in terms of movement. If I need to be building up to that or if I shouldn't need it. I've heard a lot of talk about wedding in the middle of a field (I live in West Virginia right along the Maryland/Washington D.C. border) and also weddings inside of a barn (that's been renovated into a wedding venue). I'm wondering if battery powered speakers is something I also need to be looking into. Thank you so much from an ABSOLUTE beginner!

Love the video thank you. I have Peavey 8 channel mixer and Rhode 8 channel mixing board for podcasting. I also have a Focusrite Interface. Would I need the Sub zero mixer to DJ? Also I have two Peavey PVI 10s and Two RMS 15 speakers. Would they work well for DJ events. I used that setup for comedy and live music shows. I appreciate your time. Thank you.

I’m confused about the difference between the mixer and the Pioneer deck. I thought the Pioneer deck was for mixing. Also, are the speakers amplified and you don’t need an amp? Does the lack of an amp, cause issues with larger venues or outside?

Super late reply, but if I'm not mistaken, he's implying to buy a separate mixer for the speakers specifically so you can fine tune the master output of your sound so that you don't have to mess with it on the Pioneer controller. The master mixer is for everything, the pioneer controller is for fine tuning/mixing your songs as you go.

So I was wondering how you guys are doing with without a amp. Then I realized your speakers are powered. So what do I do in my situation. I have peavey pr12s I wanted to use. I have everything but a amp. Any recommendations?

I only have experience with venue installs using amps and that is a completely different type of amp

I have upgraded all of my gear over the years, so it is time to update my PA Speakers, but Covid-19 put the squash on that for now. I Might go ELX 200 15" in the meantime, if it's good enough for Joe Bunn, it's good enough for me...lol

I’ve always used Shure microphones ($550/set with 2 mics). Purchased the Phenyx PTU-5000 for $199/set with 4 mics…THE BEST! I tried going back to Shure and people got mad! They said it sounded like crap compared to the “better” Phenyx mics. Crazy! Speakers? Only Bose!

The pioneer 200 deck uses Bluetooth to connect to your device (iPad, iPhone, smart phone) then the audio comes out the devices headphone jack and that then goes into the mixer

If you are starting you can just buy one speaker and just do small simple events, one good speaker will do fine, and invest more money in the controller,

Great video guys. I'm a beginner in the DJ world and I will be working with a singer. I will be getting started with the DJ Control Impulse 500 (gold). I plan on getting two EV ZLX15P's. My concern is having the proper setup for my singer. Do you recommend dynamic mic or wireless for singing? Should I have the singer's voice coming out of one or both speakers?

No license needed. And legally any private event you can play any music. Public events can be tricky but most the time no one says anything.

None. You will not get good bass unless you have subs. At best you will get punch mid bass but thats it

Ev herself said that with 2 Zlx 12p you can get around 100-120 ppl depending on venue probably at small-medium sized venues. For more just buy Ekx-Etx subs

No. The speakers are active or powered.

I’ve almost always have gotten used/open box gear and have been very lucky buying higher end( Denon mc7000, pioneer ddj sr2, Vestax 400, Traktor s8 and s4mk2, Turbosound iq 12, ev 50s etc all less than half of retail or street price.

I got one of my Technic 1200's off of Ebay years ago. I live in Texas the seller was in Florida. I was scared to death but it has been years and still rock solid.

Great video, but you did not use a subwoofer. Subwoofers, of course, can often be the most important element. Did you or Eric get by without using a subwoofer in your first setups?
