The route is inspired by the spiritual journey made by Pope Celestine V, the famous Celestine Way, and by the need to unite all the 14th century hermitages in the area in a single path. Only one of the 8 hermitages on the route can be reached by car (hermitage of Santo Spirito), all the others must be conquered on foot.
The walk is part of the great thematic trails proposed by the Majella National Park Authority.
All backpacking lovers will be able to try their hand at tackling this journey through time both in the form of hiking, dividing it into daily excursions, and in the form of trekking in four consecutive days.
