Hey Jeff and Cam! I am working on my inherited 1968 Mustang GT 390 4-speed coupe. Highland green. 52,460 original miles. Been in storage since 1974. Currently refreshing all drivetrain and fluids and systems. Great videos. My 3.25:1 9” differential is all original. Fill plug and hole has a weird wax like blob on the threads and oozing out d down where you have the pink marks on yours. Kind of like a cosmoline anti corrosive material. Not grease pencil or paint stick!! Also found exact Rustoleum dark satin maroon that perfectly matches the iron oxide FoMoCo paint. Great vids

Thanks for the kind words. What an awesome heirloom, that will be a great ride once done. The goo may be a factory thread sealer, not sure though.

Jeff could you make a video showing the two types of Ford 9” axle bearings. And the pro’s and con’s on ball vs tapper bearings, inner seal vs outer seal and retaining plates. Thanks.

We'll probably get to that later in the summer on our '64 Falcon.

Could you take the nuts off (one at a time) and paint them off the bolts?

Can a 8 inch fit a 9 inch housing? My 78 cobra has a tapered axle house, but I think its 8 inch? Lost,.....

Love these videos, but really think it would have been a lot easier to completely breakdown the rear and then clean/paint. Takes about 20 mins to pull the axle, and take out the pumpkin. Then you don't need to spend the time taping all the nuts bolts etc.

Well, true, that is the easy way out LOL. Even so the tips would apply to the pinion collar, yoke and pinion bolts. So we are looking at only saving the hassle of painting the housing bolts and the center section. The lack of mess (Jeff dropping the axle not withstanding) was worth the extra paper and tape.

Wow just give me a good can of black paint and I'll paint it everything that needs painting the reason why they Mark everything is because they're letting the person know it's been checked that's the only reason for the yellow paint just like nuts bolts whatever they buy them by the thousand and they use them by the thousand.

"Restomod" and "Concours" don't belong in the same sentence. There was no point in doing that on that '69 wagon.

Wasn't done for the wagon, it was done for those that want to know how to detail out the rear axle. The wagon was what we had to work with.
