Compex 3.0 Is it WORTH it?

Last year I had some pretty harsh criticisms for Compex as I reviewed their wired 2.0 model. Compex listened to those criticisms and fixed almost every issue with the NEW 3.0 Model.
BUT is it enough to warrant an upgrade?
Let's find out.

Hi Brandon: Which EMS or NMES would you rank highest, for an athlete rebuilding after paralysis? I am years past my injury, but my pt only worked with me toward basic mobility, which is not to be discounted; however, my body aches to come all the way back. I can feel the areas of atrophy, and need help targeting those, for more progress. I've always been serious about my workouts, but I've also never been one, who will overdo them. I have always listened to my body, (I'm over 30 years vegan, as a result), and I understand that progress will take time. But, I also that ignoring, or, not addressing our known areas of weakness, at best, only sustain us where we are, and at worse, create vulnerabilities to injuries. I want you to know that I appreciate your channel, and would not ask for guidance frivolously. Whatever unit I get will never be a paperweight. Thanks. Robin

I am thinking of upgrading from my Compex Performance. I use it strictly to build quad muscles-particularly the VMO-as I’ve been dealing with patella-femoral pain for two decades and this is the only thing that works for me. Compex support recommended either the 3.0 version of the Performance or the Sport Elite. I find the wires a pain to deal with, so am intrigued by the Wireless 2.0, but it’s pretty pricey. What are your thoughts on the Wireless Mini?

No. The exercises my PT has me use with it are squats (sit-to-stand), leg extensions, and quad sets. She thinks I don’t need wireless for that reason. I wrote to Compex support and asked about the mini for my situation and they wrote back that they DON”T recommend the mini, but with no explanation. I also looked into the Power Dot, but you’re not the only one who talked about the connectivity issue, so I think I’ll pass. Right now I’m looking at upgrading to the Performance 3.0. I only use one setting, which is the Endurance, so don’t need all the bells and whistles.

@@BrandonTalbot Thanks for your replies, and for your KZread reviews. They’re excellent and have been very helpful to me...and from the comments I’ve read, to many others as well. I wouldn’t be upgrading if my current Compex was working properly. Even though fully charged, I get about 10 minutes of use before it starts shutting off (and it’s not the pads). Compex’s trouble shooting info says it’s the battery, so I bought a replacement battery and the same thing happens. My PT’s Compex does the same thing, so they have to keep it plugged in whenever it’s not in use and they’re able to use it. I really didn’t want to do that, and with the current “sale” price (is it always on sale?) and a coupon code I found, I was able to order the Performance 3.0 for $157. I figured that given the amount of use it’s going to be getting as I get older (I’m 75) and the quad muscles harder to keep strong, it’s worth the investment.

TLDR: How much improvement can I expect from using this vs just doing sit ups, pushups, planks, etc. on their own? From the perspective of someone who has never seriously exercised before, and has basically no muscle strength Long form: Hi, so I'm completely new to, well, exercising in general. I can't remember the last time I did a dedicated workout, lol. I started on antidepressants last year, and have lost 10 lbs from them killing my appetite, and I'm worried about losing muscle mass along with fat. My BMI is around 21, so I don't actually need to lose weight. My goal here is to build a bit of muscle for health, and also a bit of a confidence boost. With my depression, I would never be able to regularly go to a gym, which is why I looked up ways to train your strength without gym equipment, and learned about NEMS. Anyways, my question is, what can I expect to get out of this, vs. just doing exercises like situps, pushups, etc. on their own? And would you say it's worth it for someone like me? I hope to get an answer, here goes… I notice that when I’m wired up, moving into my program, I start increasing my intensity, then the connection errors starts. In order to increase I have to move to one-by-one. What’s happening here?

To clarify when you increase intensity during a program you’re hit with an error? What make and model? Have you double check to make sure all of the connections between, pads, chords and chords to unit are secure?

@@BrandonTalbot I have a Spot Elite 2.0. The wires seem to be secure. I ordered a new set of wires to see if that was the problem. Also I installed a new battery.

Do you think the compex wireless 2.0 is outdated and we should wait for the 3.0 upgrade?

You are wrong about the battery same reason you don't have a lithium battery in your car . ni/mh is better for this application. lithium can not take large power draw. for this reason ni/mh is better for this application. lithium is better for same constant power draw. ni/mh is not out of date deep cycle batteries have some of the newest tech. just because it's new does not make it better application matters most.

Although stated in the beginning this is wired and powerdot is wireless it doesn't show them in use. I am a guy who owns powerdot and I do not like how long it takes to crank up.. So I'm considering compex, but seeing another's video of 3.0 in use, the wires are such a hassle- I can tell by looking. I suffer from pinched nerves and trigger point.. I need this stuff and strong too... I see you say compex>powerdot. But they are different in how to actually get it going and how can be used. I'm in pain constantly, so I suppose wireless is what I need to get by. I can wear the powerdot while just being more, due to less wires. Don't like the app and how long to crank it up is..

They’re not different - I’ve used both for a long time. Yes powerdot offers more features but the science behind the way it works is the same. Wired or wireless is just a preference it will not effect outcome. For me you’d chose wired if you wanted to train with it, that’s really its only advantage.
