To be fair it was never obvious if he/it was supposed to be friend or foe. In megaman 3 every encounter you have is a fight (granted megaman does appear to be more of a shoot first ask questions later kind of person) then you get rescued at the end by protoman (guess it came back for wily to because otherwise I have no idea how he survived that), then in megaman 4 protoman gets frames by wily then assists you against its impersonator by granting healing you. Don't see him again until megaman 7 where he speaks to you 3 times before engaging in a boss battle. 8 is the first game where he feels like an ally and not a rival.

***** If Capcom ever puts the X and Star Force and other spin-off games aside and make a Mega Man 11,this should be the intro.Minus Duo because he returned to space (with the exceptions of The Power Battle and The Power Fighters),and some more clips of Mega Man fighting the robot masters from MM8,MM&B,MM9,and MM10,and if it is 8-bit and was the same game-play as MM5,and Proto Man as a playable character has new moves.

That guy is seriously badass for making it. The animation was crazy-smooth for the 8-bit version.

These are awsome! It's cool seeing this in the classic style!

The intro is clearly animated to sync with the song, but whoever edited it must have shit all over that idea, kinda bothersome cause it's just so well animated

Has anyone ever noticed the mistake in the intro? (Both) From 0:00 - 0:42, Mega Man's (Rockman) buster is on his left hand. At 0:43 or 0:44 (Tomahawk Man confrontation), his buster is on his right hand. :O

At the time, I didn't know that, and I thought Mega Man only had the buster on his left arm. When I saw later games (and comics) using two of his arms, well, yeah. I forgot I had commented this, but thanks for the correction anyway.

amazing comparison both are incredible.

It'd be cool that for the next sequel they found a way to reintegrate Megaman getting his old upgrades back, like the charge shot, the slide, and maybe even the swimming ability from 8...think I'd like to see the Rush adapter come back too. As much as I'd like to see him have the wall kick, I think that'd be best left in the X series.

@SGTLEE15 A large portion of characters are MUSIC. Rock = Megaman, Blues = Proto, Bass is self explained, Treble, Roll = rock n roll etc. the music references carry to EVERY ONE OF THE GAMES in Japan even his expression "Rock On!!!"

Actually, those two were *added* into the Saturn version. The PSX version came first, and thus was slightly watered down in general in comparison.

Eric Ledger It wasn't that they were added to the Saturn version, it was that it was originally created for the Sega Saturn, however, Sony wanted it as well and wanted to release it before Sega's to get the leg up on the competition so they didn't get a complete port, which is why those two additional bosses were not there, Sega had additional enemy placements, and a bonus mode with official and fan artwork, voice and music tests, and a secret animation test for the cutscenes. So if you want to look at it the PS version is an incomplete port.

Jakigh Colburn Channel 2 True, but remember that you always encounter enemy Robot Masters twice: the first time in their stages (where you get the weapons), the second time in Wily's fortress. So by the time Rock faced the others in Wily's fortress in Rockman 1/Megaman 1, he already had all their stuff.

With the fan-made one, they could have made it look better by: A) keeping the digitized _Rockman 8_ look to all the characters, or B) Edit every scene to make them look like their NES appearances.

Hmm, remember the intros for Mega Man 4, 5 & 6? They had higher def art of Mega Man, including the Get Weapon screens too, so it's totally plausible that the beginning of this video would look like that on an 8bit system (though maybe not that smoothly animated)

Well, that just psyched me up even more for seeing Duo in Worlds Collide. Ian Flynn, how are you so awesome?

I like the 8-bit much more. It integrates better with the game, and does not pretend to be something it isn't, typical of PSX/Saturn games of the era.

I remember watching this & thought this was one of the coolest things I've seen (still is) :D

Damn, that is some epic pixel work!

Looking at the opening on the Saturn version (Thank God for KZread), it does look a bit more pixelated than the PS1 version. However, it just looks like it was badly compressed, not because of the graphics. Both consoles have similar power when it comes to full motion video, of which both consoles are definitely capable of. And yeah, 8-Bit does kick ass.

I'm surprised there was never a good Megaman cartoon. It just seems obvious. There have been a ton of Megaman games, so it isn't like there is a shortage of characters to use.

I just realized Mega Man threw Charge Man at Pharaoh Man. If this whole intro is supposed to be a flashback to Mega Man's past adventures, how come they have a scene with both a MM4 boss and a MM5 boss together if they weren't in the same game

Wood man actually is pretty hard You have to wait for him to throw his shield as leafs rain down, making it hard to dodge and hit without touching the leaves
