@@Kagekatsu1 I’m from the UK myself and McConnohie’s doesn’t sound cockney at all to me. I think it’s more that he was putting more emphasis on the crook/thug side of Kano rather than the accent, which Blanc brought out more.

Even if you don’t prefer him as Kano, JB Blanc is an incredible voice actor.

Trevor Goddard, Michael Des Barries and Darren Shahlavi are doing London accents. The ones trying to sound Australian all sound fake.

Changing Kano from a Japanese-American crime lord to an Australian arms dealer was one of the few times Hollywood has actually improved on a video game, IMHO. (Although apparently Trevor Goddard was going for Cockney. Go figure.)

@@dabossman5650 agreed as an Australian I actually thought Blanc did a spot on Australian accent which is definitely saying something considering the fact he was born in France but lived most of his life in England before moving to America to start his career in voice acting

Michael McConnohie did a great job as Kano but let's give credit to JB Blanc too for he was also a good Kano. As for live action Trevor Goddard did a good job may he RIP

JB Blanc has sealed it for me only for the sausage line with Scarlet.

Trevor Goddard practically defined Kano. Michael McConnohie is very stand out, and JB Blanc is an especially good replacement for McConnohie. As for the others: - Michael Des Barres doesn’t have that guttural sound as Kano, and in the same boat Brian Kesinger (though i can excuse the latter because of the different tone in Wreck it Ralph) - David Bennet Allen is actually pretty good, I wouldn’t mind having him play Kano in a mainline game - Darren Shahlavi definitely has the voice and makes for a good looking pre-laser eye Kano. Would have been cool to see him with the laser eye.

If I'm not mistaken, Trevor Goddard is the reason Kano is Australian. I think the bio from the first MK had Kano as Japanese American (?). Goddard played the character so well that they left Kano as Australian in his memory. So for me, the best voice is the one that started it all- Trevor Goddard.

Actually, Goddard had a Cockney accent, which Americans seem to think is Australian. Subsequent incarnations in the games retconned the character to Australian as reference to the film, not knowing he was portrayed as English.

@@player2-lightwater914 OK, but the character in the movie was English. He was made Australian in the game because the Cockney accent was mistaken for Australian. A couple of the other portrayals outside the game are London accents as well, and none of the Australian ones sound real.

This is probably the first video where all the voice actors really did a character's voice justice. I can't say there's one I dislike even a little bit in this video. Not a fan of Kano but the consistency of voice actors is really good so I can't hate him all much 😂

I like JB Blanc’s voice and you can hear the difference between the younger and older version in MK11 But also what happened to Michael McConnohie? He was really good and has done it for a while. It seems like Netherrealm Studios keeps dropping good voices for decent voices in MK11

The character in Wreck It Ralph is not /officially/ Kano. He's Disney's Original Character Blano! No actually he's credited as cyborg. We all know what they meant but I guess they couldn't clear the rights from their mortal enemies at Warner Brothers For some reason.

I think because the character is from an M-rated franchise (nowadays) just like Zombie is a stand-in for Cyril of House of the Dead.

For me Michael McConnohie and JB Blanc are the best! If and when MK 12 comes back pick either one will be fine.

@@masonfremlin193 the timeline is reset so really any character that has died can come back. Baraka is back and he was killed in MKX same with Noob Saitbot. Shang Stung etc. If they fan base is there for said character nothing is certain.

I think Michael had a really gritty Australian voice. It honestly fit with kano’s character and will always be my favorite voice in the entire series

Trevor Goddard is the reason as to why they kept him Australian. He killed it in the movie !

It really comes down to Michael McConnohie and JB Blanc. I side with the former slightly for sticking around from V.S. D.C Universe up to X, giving him a chance to grow and perfect the voice. JB Blanc has a good show of range, probably the most serviceable of all the recastings for 11, but I feel like he lacks that "Down and Dirty" attitude that defines Kano as an antagonist. Trevor Goddard deserves praise for being the performance that so impressed the creators they retconned Kano into an Aussie for all future appearances, even if he seems to have a bit of an Arnold Schwarzenegger impression going on. The rest range from passable in the cases of Michael Des Barres and David Bennet Allen, to completely forgettable in the form of Brian Kessinger (I know it's just a cameo but he could put more effort into it).

I love how they slowly dialed up his Australian accent in each game and just jumped from a 7 to an 18 with the voice in MK11

Michael is probably the best as Kano. JB was alright.

I loved his voice in MKX, but I was wondering why he sounded so much better in MK11, and now I know why. He was replaced. lol Honestly, JB Blanc did a FLAWLESS job, Way better than anyone else. His delivery is so sinister and cold. It's perfect for Kano.

11 had the best voice actor and best design in my opinion. I love Kano in 11. I live in Australia and his accent does telegraph he's not Australian with a couple of his pronunciations but as a whole he did a great job

JB Blanc is half American half French and half British which JB Blanc is the voice actor of Kano in mk11 he also voice bane in Batman Arkham origins and other characters in the Batman Arkham series and voice one of the characters from Apex and bleach and Naruto

It's just weird to hear Kano's voice in MK11 being so different from the past games, starting with MKvsDC. JB did a darn good job, but I'd be happier if I heard Michael's voice in MK11, just because I'm kinda used to it

Michael McConnohie hands down. He perfectly nails the grizzled and unhinged personality for Kano

JB Blanc is the best thing outta MK11, this is the first time I remotely care about his character. His delivery is just what sells it so well!

MK9 and X sounds like a right scumbag. The type of person that would make you want to kill them. Perfect for Kano. I think the new actor is too soft spoken. Doesn't have have aggressiveness to it.

The M7 Omega yeah I agree I do find that the dialogue for Kano in MKX had more menacing lines than MK11. But the voice is fine from MK vs DC to MK11. As for the movies the original actor did a good job.

Hmmm... 1. Trevor Goddard (The one that led to Kano being retconned to having Australian heritage instead of being Japanese-American. So have to give him his due here) 2. Michael McConnohie (Was a little rough at first with his Kano voice work during MKvDC, but gradually settled into the role until finally perfecting him in MKX) 3. JB Blanc (A little more subdued in his voice work with Kano compared to the two above. But still does great at depicting Kano's cold, opportunist character.)

Blanc is it. Plus Kanos "Quint from Jaws" look is PERFECTION. First choice: MK11 Kano Second: MK3 Kano
