    I'm riding this from the past 3 months and i must say I'm in love with it. You can live without the electronics and explore your potential with a raw machine. I found it to be a very practical bike..

    I just got the X , went to ooty the next day. Bike handles amazing despite the MRF tyres on the corners , even on wet surfaces. Yes when you accelerate really really hard , rear might slide because theres no traction control but its a better bike to polish your skills. Its a Raw bike , but the motorcycle just feels so so so good. If you are looking at the Himalayan , look at this. Alloy wheels are very sturdy , can take medium level offroad easily. Yes suspension is little bit stiff , but you can click the rear one down a little or get an aftermarket from the money you are saving from the standard one. The black color looks so nice , clutch is light , brakes are great. Its a brilliant motorcycle.

    I think 390 Adv X is a very very good option to have. One its much cheaper, 60k on ex-sh makes a noticeable difference on the on road prices. Secondly, its better to start off with a basic bike. The reason being, its forces you to learn skills that a bike that has lot of electronics probably wont let you learn. All the bikes I've owned till now, none of them have had ABS. So is ABS bad? definitely not, but learning to modulate brakes without the assistance is always good. Same goes for rest of the electronics. They are really good and make a difference but its better to start off with sort of a blank canvas and hone your skills. Also, more importantly, 70-90% people who buy these bikes will never take it on off road trails, max would be some nasty patches in the city or highways. So spoke wheels and all wont make sense to them. Ability to fix punctures easily makes a better case for them, especially when you are out touring. Coming to the tyres, one, you can trade them or if your running is high, you can buy a good set when you wear the stock ones out. But the funny thing, this time around, likely due to upcoming Himalayan 450 and Hero Xpulse 450, KTM has made sure it covers all its bases so customer wont have a reason not to opt for it. There is a version for everyone. Himalayan is really good bike, the two main things that work against it, the weight and lack of power, will be fixed in the 450. So anyone not in a hurry can wait for a few months after their launches, see how they perform and then decide which of the trio makes sense, but for everyone else, I think the menu that KTM offers should suffice.

    yeah. I mean they are good enough unless for exceptional cases. But if we keep changing the bike for exceptional cases, the bike wont remain bike anymore. You might as well buy a car :D
